Abstract: The invention relates to a rolling apparatus for rolling a rolled material, and to a method for operating the rolling apparatus. The rolling apparatus has two rolling stands, which each have two working rolls distanced from one another by a nip, through which the rolled material can be guided. In a first operating mode, a lubricant mixture, formed of a carrier gas and a lubricant, and coolant are applied to at least one working roll of a first rolling stand and/or to at least one rolled material surface of the rolled material. In a second operating mode, a skin pass agent is applied to at least one working roll of the first rolling stand, at least one working roll of the second rolling stand and/or at least one rolled material surface of the rolled material.

Abstract: A cooler (1) for cooling hot bulk goods (17) preferably iron ore sinter: The cooler has a grate surface (16) for holding the hot bulk goods (17) to be treated to reduce the dust emissions and at the same time to also enable maintenance measures on the cooler (1). Covers are located in the region of the feed point (2) and the removal point (3). The device herein provides an additional boundary, which prevents the removal of dust particles of size over 150 μm. The boundary is a stationary first wall (12) and a stationary second wall (11) and the boundary extends over a partial segment, and preferably over the entire region, of the uncovered grate surface (16). A supporting structure (18) is provided, to which the first wall (11) and the second wall (12) are fastened.

Abstract: A cooling bar (1) for cooling rolled material (5) being moved in a transport direction (3) and in particular for reducing temperature differences in the temperature of the rolled material (5) transversely to the direction of transport (3). The cooling bar (1) has several full jet nozzles (11) by means of which a coolant beam of a coolant with an approximately constant jet diameter can be distributed to the rolling stock (5) in the direction of distribution (15). A cooling device has at least two cooling bars (1) of that type. The cooling bars extend transversely to a transport direction, one behind the other. Each cooling bar has a respective different pattern of jet nozzles and selection of applicable pattern of jet nozzles in their respective bars selectively cools the rolled material transversely to the transport direction.

Abstract: First, an auxiliary cut-out (11, 16) is formed in a side wall (1) of a continuous casting mold. That cut-out extends, in the longitudinal direction, at least over the cut-out length (L) of the useful cut-out (10) and has an auxiliary cross-section orthogonal to the longitudinal direction. Then, an additional element (13, 14, 17) is inserted into the auxiliary cut-out (11, 16), and extends, in the longitudinal direction, at least over a cut-out length (L) of a later useful cut-out (10) and bounds the useful cut-out (10) orthogonally to the longitudinal direction at least over part of the periphery of the useful cut-out. The useful cut-out (10) is formed by inserting the additional element (13, 14, 17) into the auxiliary cut-out (11, 16). The useful cut-out (10) is closed all around orthogonally to the longitudinal direction. Orthogonally to the longitudinal direction, the useful cut-out has a (correspondingly small) useful cross-section and a maximum useful extent (d3). The useful cross-section is defined in such a way that an optical waveguide (9) can be reversibly inserted into the useful cut-out. The production method makes it possible that a ratio of the cut-out length (L) to the maximum useful extent (d3) is 100:1 or greater.

Abstract: A cooling section for flat rolling stock (1) has a working region (2), through which the flat rolling stock (1) is guided. The working region (2) can be supplied with a liquid coolant (4) by means of a number of spray beams (3i). The liquid coolant (4) is fed from a reservoir (7) for the liquid coolant (4) to the spray beams (3i) by means of a pump (5) and a supply system (6). Valves (9i) are arranged upstream of the spray beams (3i) in the supply system (6). Opening positions (si) of the valves (9i) are set by a control unit (10) of the cooling section according to a respective sub-flow (fi) that is to be applied to the flat rolling stock (1) by means of each spray beam (3i). Also, the delivery rate (M) of the pump (5) and/or a line pressure (p) generated by the pump (5) in the supply system (6) are set by the control unit (10) according to the total flow (F) that is to be applied to the flat rolling stock (1) by means of all the spray beams (3i).
