Abstract: A wire block assembly cartridge for an arrangement of solenoid operated pilot valves for operating coolant control valves in a manifold assembly for supplying a pressurized coolant to a rolling mill and having multiple wire block blocks in the manifold. The cartridge has four coolant control valves and four solenoids coils that control the four coolant control valves, and four spray nozzles. The wire block assembly cartridge can have the spray nozzles on 25 mm centers to enable spraying in narrow zones.

Abstract: Provided is a method for rolling a steel sheet and a method for manufacturing a steel sheet capable of preventing occurrence of defects in appearance of a steel sheet caused by oil spots of a coolant and preventing occurrence of defects in shape of a steel sheet by appropriately controlling thermal deformation of work rolls. The method includes keeping a coolant feeding rate at or lower than a predetermined rate lower than an upper constant rate at a start of operation of the rolling mill, and increasing the coolant feeding rate to the upper constant rate in response to an amount of center buckles of the steel sheet reaching or exceeding an upper target value.

Abstract: A lamination lubricant dispensing unit for lubricating a working roller of a rolling mill for laminating a sheet of alkali metal or alloy thereof into a film. The lubricant dispensing unit has a dispensing unit body defining a laterally extending wall; first and second side walls extending forwardly from the laterally extending wall; and a ledge connected to lower ends of the walls. The ledge extends forwardly from the laterally extending wall and extending between the side walls. The ledge and the walls define a recess having an opened side. The ledge has a front edge for abutting a lamination surface of the working roller. At least a portion of the ledge is an angled portion extending upward and rearward from the front edge toward the laterally extending wall. The dispensing unit body defines at least one lubricant passage having an outlet defined in the laterally extending wall.

Abstract: Described herein are thin metal strips having hot rolled exterior side surfaces characterized as being primarily or substantially free of all prior austenite grain boundaries, or at least primarily or substantially free of all prior austenite grain boundaries, and including elongated surface structure. As a result, because the prior austenite grain boundaries are not primarily or substantially present, all such prior austenite grain boundaries are not susceptible to grain boundary etching due to acid etching or pickling. In particular examples, the thin metal strips undergo hot rolling performed with a coefficient of friction equal to or greater than 0.20 with or without use of lubrication.

Abstract: A cooling bar (1) for cooling rolled material (5) being moved in a transport direction (3) and in particular for reducing temperature differences in the temperature of the rolled material (5) transversely to the direction of transport (3). The cooling bar (1) has several full jet nozzles (11) by means of which a coolant beam of a coolant with an approximately constant jet diameter can be distributed to the rolling stock (5) in the direction of distribution (15). A cooling device has at least two cooling bars (1) of that type. The cooling bars extend transversely to a transport direction, one behind the other. Each cooling bar has a respective different pattern of jet nozzles and selection of applicable pattern of jet nozzles in their respective bars selectively cools the rolled material transversely to the transport direction.
