    摘要: An upstream bandwidth conditioning premise device for use as part of a CATV system and for placement on or near a user's premise to reduce noise created on the user's premise that would otherwise be injected into upstream transmission channels and passed into an RF main signal distribution system of the CATV system. The device includes a variable attenuation device, a signal measurement circuit, a memory circuit and an electronic circuit, which is configured to iteratively determine (i) whether an incremental amount of additional attenuation is to be applied and (ii) whether at least a portion of a previously applied incremental amount of attenuation is to be removed. The electronic circuit includes a counting circuit, a threshold comparison circuit configured to compare a peak signal strength to a predetermined threshold, and a peak comparison circuit configured to compare a contemporary peak signal strength to a previous peak signal strength.

    摘要: An integrated filter connector apparatus that performs the functions of a coaxial cable connector component combined with the functions of an in-line signal conditioning component. The apparatus eliminates at least one exposed point of connection between a separate coaxial cable connector component and an in-line signal conditioning component. Elimination of such a point of connection likely reduces RF ingress into a signal path and likely reduces interference with a signal traveling through the signal path. Embodiments of the connector apparatus provide various types of connector interfaces.

A method of configuring a path includes steps of determining a delay versus frequency characteristic of the path within the predetermined frequency band, and providing from one to a plurality of all-pass delay equalizers in the path, wherein a collective delay versus frequency characteristic of the all-pass delay equalizer(s) within a predetermined frequency band is a mirror image of that caused by the amplifier(s), such that all frequencies within the predetermined frequency band are delayed by substantially the same amount and hence all frequency components of a signal arrive at a receiver at substantially the same time.

    摘要: The present invention provides an over-voltage surge protection device comprising a printed circuit board having a signal carrying conductive member having a plurality of nodes positioned therealong, and a conductive member running to ground also having a plurality of odes positioned therealong. The nodes on the signal carrying member and ground member extend along a common path with corresponding ones of the signal carrying nodes positioned in adjacent, but spaced relation to the ground nodes. The peripheral edges of the nodes accumulate and discharge transient high voltage surges. Preferably the nodes are shaped in the form of triangles due to this particular geometry's favorable ability to accumulate and discharge voltage, but may be formed in a variety of geometries.

    摘要: A novel, reliable, moisture migration preventing cable connector for non-standard port attachment is provided. Such a connector device includes a deformable sealing element that is clear of mating port threads during connector attachment to a cable port, but that deforms upon actuation of a mated thread device rotated around the connector subsequent to cable port attachment. Such deformation allows for the sealing element to enter the open areas of the mated threads thereby preventing the migration of moisture into the cable connector, protecting not only the connector threads, but also the mating port, as well as the internal dielectric and center conductor of the cable itself. A method of providing a signal connection and transfer in a cable system is also encompassed within this invention.

Embodiments of a hand held portable tool and methods for using the same can include a connector attached at one end of a housing to pass a downstream signal from a coupled user-side coaxial cable port, and a power detector. The detector includes a first filter to pass a selected bandwidth and a rectifying power detector circuit to detect RF power in the selected bandwidth indicative of the digital service marker. Upon detection of the digital service marker, an indicator in the hand held portable diagnostic tools provides detectable or visual results to the user.
