Abstract:
A wet and dry towel dispenser contains and dispenses both dry towels and wet towels (also referred to as towelettes or wipes). The dispenser includes coaxially located compartments for containing the dry towels and wet towels, preferably in a nested arrangement to use space most efficiently within the dispenser. One preferred embodiment of the dispenser has a substantially cylindrical shape and a removable cover on one end to allow the towels to be loaded into the respective compartments.
Abstract:
A printed transistor has a first gate (202) printed and disposed on a first side of a printed deposit of semiconductor material (201) and a second printed gate (301) disposed on an opposite side of the printed deposit of semiconductor material. By one approach these elements are provided using a serial printing process. By another approach these elements are provided through use of a lamination process.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved gas transfer apparatus designed for enhanced purging of a pigtail and a process for effecting such purging. The improvement in the apparatus resides in an integrated system of components comprising: a surge chamber having a first end, a body and a second end, said first end in communication with the pigtail conduit, said body section of said surge chamber having a cross-section larger than the cross-section of said pigtail conduit and a second end in communication with said vessel containing said gas source; and, a purge gas source for delivery of a purge gas to said pigtail conduit whereby during an alternating cycle of pressurization of said pigtail with said purge gas and depressurization, optionally with application of vacuum within said pigtail conduit, impurities can be removed from within the pigtail conduit.
Abstract:
A communications method including the steps of: activating a plurality of signal sources, and transmitting a synchronization event to the plurality of signal sources to cause the plurality of signal sources to simultaneously transmit data in response to the synchronization event.
Abstract:
A system and method for selecting appropriate running functional processes within an object-oriented environment, based upon specified criteria. The selection is made based upon criteria required by the running functional processes and the nature and requirements of the requesting functional process. The present invention allows for these characteristics of the functional processes to be contained in the operation request, so that it is not necessary to obtain them from a common depository.
Abstract:
A system and method for visually displaying and analyzing criminal and/or public health and safety data for geospatial and/or time variations, including the collection of incident data coupled with geographic and time data, filtering the symptom data based upon a selected time period and geographic range, and creating a visual result based upon statistical modeling including power transform and/or data normalization. According to at least one embodiment, the system for visually displaying and analyzing includes selecting and performing at least one aberration detection method and displaying the result to a user via a visual analytics arrangement.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention relate to a catheter having an ultrasound energy emitting region that is both rotatable about and slidable along the shaft of the catheter. One embodiment is directed to a catheter comprising an ultrasound transducer coupled to the shaft, and at least one actuator coupled to the handle and the ultrasound transducer that is adapted to move the ultra-sound transducer both longitudinally along the shaft and circumferentially about the shaft. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a catheter comprising an ultrasound transducer coupled to the shaft, and at least one actuator that is adapted to move the sheath both longitudinally along the shaft and circumferentially about the shaft to orient a window of the sheath in a desired position.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for coating elongated medical devices, such as guidewires and catheters, incorporating infrared (IR) heating tools for curing the coating while the medical devices are still in place on the coating apparatus. Coating and curing may be accomplished evenly in a dipping machine by utilizing IR heaters having heating heads with openings, the heating heads being mounted for the extension of such elongated medical devices through their openings so that the heating heads are in generally surrounding juxtaposition to the elongated medical devices. The voltage supply to the IR heaters may be selectively adjusted so as to match the wavelength of the generated IR heat to the energy absorbing capability of the particular coating solution being utilized for proper timed absorption of the infrared energy.
Abstract:
Multi-functional irrigation devices and methods for using these devices in irrigation are described. The irrigation devices of the invention contain a part that operates substantially similar to a turret sprinkler and another part that operates substantially similar to an oscillator sprinkler. The device contains a mechanism for switching function between the turret part and the oscillating part. The irrigation devices are thereby able to exhibit two modes of irrigation which can be used alternatively, saving the user time, effort, and costs.
