Abstract: A bariatric clamp including a partition-forming section including first and second elongated members separated by a first distance; and a passage-forming section including a bight portion. The bight portion includes a first bend section and a second bend section each having a member extending away from the axis of the clamp; and third and fourth members separated by a second distance; and a flexible hinge joining the third and fourth members. When the bariatric clamp is in the closed position, the second distance is greater than the first distance. The flexible hinge may be stretchable to accommodate different stomach thicknesses.

Abstract: A sheath assembly includes a first sheath, a second sheath, and an attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism secures the second sheath to the first sheath such that a first portion of a second sheath outer surface interfaces with a portion of a first sheath outer surface. The second sheath is configured to transition between an expanded state and a collapsed state such that the profile of the sheath assembly can be reduced when the second sheath is in the collapsed state. This can allow the sheath assembly to become more compact, for instance, during insertion, but yet expandable, for instance, once in place within a patient to suitably accommodate an instrument within the second sheath.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling a soft tissue implant into a locking cavity formed within a bone is disclosed. The apparatus includes a member to pull the soft tissue implant into a femoral tunnel. The member includes a suture having first and second ends which are passed through first and second openings associated with the longitudinal passage to form a pair of loops. Portions of the suture lay parallel to each other within the suture. Application of tension onto the suture construction causes retraction of the soft tissue implant into the femoral tunnel.

Abstract: A catheter system for creating an arteriovenous (AV) fistula includes a proximal base having a distal end surface. A distal tip is connected to the proximal base and is movable relative to the proximal base. The distal tip has a proximal end surface. The distal end surface and the proximal end surface are adapted to contact opposing sides of a tissue portion to create the fistula. A peripheral edge defines the distal end surface of the proximal base. A stop is formed in the peripheral edge and is configured to limit movement of the distal tip in a proximal direction.

Abstract: An assembly including a bougie and a sheath for use in performing a gastroplasty for dividing a stomach of a patient into a sleeve receiving food and a bypass portion. The bougie includes an elongated body having a segment being shaped to follow a lesser curve of the stomach, and an extension member being movable within the stomach for positioning a distal portion thereof away from a gastroesophageal junction of the stomach and to define a fluid passage between the sleeve and the bypass portion. The sheath has an elongated main lumen in which the bougie is inserted and the sheath is translatable along the bougie to selectively expose the extension member of the bougie to perform its guiding action, or hide the extension member to ensure secure displacement of the bougie within the stomach and along the oesophagus.

Abstract: Surgical instruments that have articulation joints that include a proximal joint member that defines a proximal face that defines a proximal apex and a distal joint member that defines a distal apex. A linkage assembly retains the proximal apex in rolling inter-engagement with the distal apex.
