Abstract: A device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface displays a user interface including a user interface object at a first location. While displaying the user interface, the device detects a portion of an input, including a contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface corresponding to the user interface object. In response to detecting the portion of the input: upon determining that the portion of the input meets menu-display criteria, the device displays a plurality of selectable options that corresponds to the user interface object on the display; and, upon determining that the portion of the input meets object-move criteria, the device moves the user interface object or a representation thereof from the first location to a second location according to the movement of the contact.

Abstract: An electronic device provides, to a display, data to present a user interface that includes a first group of user interface objects and a second group of user interface objects. A current focus is on a first user interface object of the first group of user interface objects. The device receives an input that corresponds to a request to move the current focus to a user interface object in the second group of user interface objects; determines a projection of the first user interface object based on a direction of the input; identifies one or more user interface objects that overlap with the projection of the first user interface object in the direction on the display that corresponds to the direction of the input; and moves the current focus to a second user interface object of the one or more identified user input objects.

Abstract: A method for adjusting audio being outputted through a beam forming loudspeaker array. Program audio is rendered to drive the loudspeaker array to produce sound beams having i) a main content pattern that is aimed at a listener, superimposed with ii) several diffuse content patterns that are aimed away from the listener. In response to receiving an alert message that refers to alert audio, the portion of the program audio in the main pattern is moved into the diffuse patterns, and the alert audio is rendered to drive the loudspeaker array so that the portion of the program audio in the main pattern is replaced with the alert audio. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: An electronic device with a display showing a user interface (UI) in different orientations relative to the display. In landscape orientation the user interface includes a dock region displayed along the right or left edge of the user interface. Application icons or other UI objects that are arranged in a row on the dock region in portrait orientation are arranged in a column on the dock region in the landscape orientation. UI objects and folders from other pages move from underneath the dock region onto the user interface. Furthermore, notification and control windows are overlay on top of portions of the dock region in landscape orientation of the user interface.

Abstract: An electronic device provides, to a display, data to present a user interface that includes: a plurality of user interface objects, and a current focus on a first user interface object. The device receives an input that corresponds to a gesture detected on a touch-sensitive surface of a user input device. The gesture includes a movement of a contact across the touch-sensitive surface followed by a lift-off of the contact from the touch-sensitive surface. The gesture includes a characteristic movement distance and a characteristic movement speed. In accordance with a determination that the gesture satisfies coasting criteria, the device moves the current focus in the user interface; and decelerates movement of the current focus across the series of user interface objects at a first deceleration rate that is based on: the characteristic movement distance of the gesture, and the characteristic movement speed of the gesture.

Abstract: An electronic device: displays a home button configuration user interface with a plurality of different tactile output settings for the home button. While displaying the home button configuration user interface, the device detects selection of a respective tactile output setting. In response to detecting a first input of a first type on the home button (while the respective tactile output setting is selected), the device determines whether the respective tactile output setting is a first or a second tactile output setting for the home button. If the respective tactile output setting is the first tactile output setting, the device provides a first tactile output without dismissing the home button configuration user interface. If the respective tactile output setting is the second tactile output setting, the device provides a second tactile output without dismissing the home button configuration user interface.

Abstract: An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and tactile output generator(s) displays a user interface including a moveable component representing a plurality of selectable options. The device detects a scroll input directed to the moveable component including movement of a contact followed by a lift-off. In response to detecting the scroll input: the device moves the moveable component through moving a first selectable option and a second selectable option, where the movement of the moveable component gradually slows down after the lift-off of the contact. As the first moveable component moves through the first selectable option with a speed: the device generates a tactile output and an audio output. As the moveable component moves through the second selectable option with a slower speed: the device generates a different tactile output in a first property but is the same in a second property and generates a different audio output.
