Abstract: A display system includes a display device and a rendering device having a plurality of individually-controllable illumination regions. The rendering device is to render a frame for display at the display device during a frame period, to determine a gaze position of a user relative to the display device for the frame period, and to set, for each illumination region, an illumination configuration to be applied by the display device for the illumination region during at least one of the frame period or a subsequent frame period based on a classification of the illumination region that is representative of a location of the gaze position relative to the illumination region.

Abstract: A video source, a display and a method of processing multilayered video are disclosed. The video source decodes a multilayered video bit stream to transmit synchronized streams of decompressed video images and corresponding overlay images to an interconnected display. The display receives separate streams of video and overlay images. Transmission and reception of corresponding video and overlay images is synchronized in time. A video image received in the display can be selectively processed separately from its corresponding overlay image. The video image as processed at the display is later composited with its corresponding overlay image to form an output image for display.

Abstract: A display system includes a rendering device and a display device. The rendering device is to render a sequence of frames for display at a frame rate and to set an illumination configuration to be applied by the display device during a frame period for each frame of the sequence of frames based on the frame rate. The illumination configuration controls at least one of an illumination level and a duration for an illumination strobe, and at least one of an illumination level for an illumination fill preceding the illumination strobe in the frame period and an illumination level for an illumination fill following the illumination strobe in the frame period. The display device is to receive a representation of the illumination configuration from the rendering device and apply the illumination configuration during a frame period for each frame of the sequence of frames to display the frame.

Abstract: Briefly, methods and apparatus to provide image content to, and display image content on, variable refresh rate displays with reduced input lag. The methods and apparatus allow for image tearing, or the displaying of image content from more than one video frame, when the render rate of a provided video frame falls outside the display refresh rate range of a variable refresh rate display when the display is refreshing with a previous frame (e.g. the display is in active refresh), thus reducing the input lag of the content of the provided video frame. The methods and apparatus may also prevent image tearing when the render rate of provided video frames is within the display refresh rate range of a display.

Abstract: An upstream video processor may perform video processing upon video data to created processed video data. The video processing may include at least one of color correction, contrast correction, gamma correction, sharpness enhancement, and edge enhancement. Metadata indicative of the performed video processing may also be generated. The processed video data and metadata may be passed to a downstream video processor, the latter for use in determining what further video processing, if any, to apply. An intermediate video processor may receive video data and metadata indicating video processing performed thereupon by an upstream video processor. Based on the received metadata, additional video processing may be performed, and new metadata indicating the additional video processing may be generated. Composite metadata may be generated from the received and new metadata and may be passed along with the processed video data to a downstream video processor for use in determining what further video processing, if any, to apply.
