Abstract: A syringe for a fluid delivery system includes a pressure jacket having a distal end, a proximal end, and a throughbore therebetween. The syringe further includes a rolling diaphragm having a proximal end with an end wall for engaging a plunger, a distal end received within the throughbore of the pressure jacket. The distal end of the rolling diaphragm has a nozzle and a sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end of the rolling diaphragm along a longitudinal axis. At least a portion of one of the sidewall and the end wall has non-uniform thickness. At least a portion of the sidewall is flexible and rolls upon itself when acted upon by the plunger such that an outer surface of the sidewall at a folding region is folded in a radially inward direction as the plunger is advanced from the proximal end to the distal end of the rolling diaphragm.

Abstract: A syringe includes a barrel having a distal end, a proximal end, and a sidewall extending therebetween along a longitudinal axis. At least one engagement member protrudes from a terminal portion of the sidewall in a proximal direction along the longitudinal axis. The at least one engagement member tapers axially in a direction from the distal end toward the proximal end. The at least one engagement member is configured for engagement with a locking mechanism of a fluid injector to releasably lock the syringe with the fluid injector. A taper of the at least one engagement member is configured to rotationally guide the syringe into alignment with the locking mechanism and axially eject the syringe upon rotation of the syringe. The locking mechanism operatively engages the at least one engagement member regardless of an orientation of the syringe about the longitudinal axis relative to the injector.

Abstract: A method for protecting a pressure transducer from fluid pressure damage using a pressure isolation mechanism is disclosed. The method includes associating the pressure transducer with an isolation port of the pressure isolation mechanism, placing a pressurizing device for delivering fluid under pressure in fluid connection with an inlet port of the pressure isolation mechanism, and actuating the pressurizing device to cause fluid flow in the inlet port such that a free floating, fluid flow responsive valve member positioned in an internal cavity of the pressure isolation mechanism engages a seal seat therein to attain a closed position, preventing fluid flow between the inlet port and the isolation port and thus prevent overpressure in the isolation port. Hemodynamic pressure signals read with the pressure transducer may be transmitted at least in part through a body of the valve member, or a portion thereof, when in the closed position.

Abstract: A fluid delivery system is provided and includes a power injector supporting a high pressure syringe. The fluid delivery system further includes a manifold and a low pressure hand-operated syringe. The manifold generally includes a plurality of fluid control valves in series fluid communication. A first fluid control valve of the plurality of fluid control valves has a first port, a second inlet port, and a third port. The third port of the first fluid control valve is in fluid connection with a first port of a second fluid control valve. The low pressure hand-operated syringe is in fluid connection with the first port of the first fluid control valve, and the high pressure syringe is in fluid connection with the second port of the first fluid control valve. The fluid control valves may be multi-position stopcock valves.
