    摘要: Current BD specification prescribes that in an ADIP an address is expressed with 21 bits, 19 to indicate the corresponding RUB number, and 2 to be set to 00, 01 and 10 consecutively in the 3 successive ADIP corresponding to one RUB, the smallest addressable portion of data on a disc. From this it derives that at most 32.2 GB of storage space can be addressed. Due to recent developments however, a storage capacity of 35 GB per layer could be achieved. According to the invention, one or more bits are added to the 21 bits currently allocated to express an address. This additional bits however are not stored in the ADIP but left implicit, exempting from a heavy deviation from the current BD encoding rules. The additional bits are reconstructed by an apparatus on the basis of the position on the information carrier where the corresponding RUB is present.

    摘要: The present invention relates to information carriers in general and high density discs such as Blu-ray discs in particular. According to the invention a system is provided comprising an information carrier (1) and an apparatus for accessing said information carrier The information carrier having recording unit blocks (400), comprising a sequence of channel bits, a link frame (402, 403) and a physical cluster, the link frame comprising a frame sync (42, 44) and a link area (43, 45). The apparatus comprises: a bit recovery unit (308), operating upon a set of control parameters, capable of retrieving a number of channel bits, on condition that the control parameters have values in respective valid ranges, and an adaptive parameters adjustment unit (309), for adjusting the set of control parameters, based upon the sequence of said channel bits, so as to bring the control parameter in the respective valid ranges. Thus, the link area comprises a link pattern for facilitating the adaptive parameters adjustment unit in adjusting the set of control parameters. Moreover, the Link pattern comprises a sequence of markers defined by a polarity transition, which encode auxiliary information bits, and that said adaptive parameters adjustment unit is configured to use the auxiliary information for adjusting said set of control parameters.

    摘要: An information carrier for holding user information, the information carrier comprising access information in the form of access information bits for accessing the user information, the access information bits being stored on the information carrier in a variation of a parameter, which variation is detectable by integration detection. The access information bits are scrambled according to a pre-determined scrambling method. By scrambling the access information bits according to a pre-determined scrambling method, detection of the access information is not possible as long as the scrambling method is not known. Using the integration detection technique, the only way to obtain the access information is by knowing how the signal obtained after reading-out the area comprising the access information bits must be processed. In this way illegal retrieval of the user information is further prevented.

Each bit of the secondary signal is represented by a relationship between the polarity of the frame sync signal and the values of the DC control bits in a fashion which complies with the constraints of the modulation code and the DC control algorithm.

    摘要: To record specific information to a disk-shaped record medium and reproduce the recorded specific information without any influence on the error correction capability. Copy protection information (CPID) having an error correction code appended thereto, shuffled and otherwise treated is sent as a CPID bit block to an EDC rewrite circuit (14). The EDC rewrite circuit (14) rewrites an error detection code appended to user data in each sector in accordance with bit information in the CPID bit block. Thereafter, the data in each sector is scrambled, and an ECC block including a plurality of sectors is modulated with an error correction code and sync signal appended thereto. The modulated signal is recorded in a reserve area of a lead-in area of the disk-shaped record medium. During reproduction, CPID is restored based on the result of error detection of each sector.
