In a particular embodiment, a method comprises exchanging wireless communications between a wireless device and an access node on a wireless communication network. The method further includes determining a reverse noise ratio for the access node. Additionally, the method includes generating a message indicating the reverse noise ratio and transferring the message to the wireless device. The method further comprises receiving the message in the wireless device and modifying a data transfer rate of the wireless communications from the wireless device based on the reverse noise ratio indicated by the message.

    摘要: In a communication system, a wireless access node receives an access request from a wireless communication device. In response, the access node starts an access timer and transfers signaling to the communication system indicating the access request. If the access timer expires before a response to the signaling is received, then the access node provides the wireless communication device with wireless access to the communication system. The access node receives the response to the signaling. If the response is negative and is received before the access timer expires, then the access node denies the access request. If the response is negative and is received after the access timer expires, then the access node terminates the wireless access to the communication system for the wireless communication device.

The first and second wireless networks share a plurality of wireless access points. A paging system receives a page request for the wireless device for delivery over the first network. If so, the paging system transfers a first page to the second network for delivery to the wireless device. The paging system receives a page response from the wireless device over the second network and processes the response to identify the shared wireless access point serving the wireless device. The paging system transfers a second page to the first wireless network for delivery to the wireless device through the identified shared wireless access point.

The wireless communication transceiver is configured to exchange wireless communications with a plurality of wireless communication devices over a plurality of wireless communication channels. The processing system is configured to monitor a loading level on the wireless communication channels to determine when the loading level exceeds a loading threshold, and when the loading level exceeds the loading threshold, calculate an efficiency of an interference cancellation process, compare the efficiency of the interference cancellation process to an efficiency threshold, and if the efficiency of the interference cancellation process falls below the efficiency threshold, modify a frame offset in use by the wireless communication devices on at least one reverse link communication channel.

    摘要: The invention is directed to methods and systems for controlling resource utilization. In particular, resources in a wireless telecommunications network may be monitored and controlled to eliminate unnecessary resource usage. Channels on the network, and the users thereof, may be monitored to identify under-utilized channels based on predetermined thresholds. If an under-utilized channel is identified, users may be immediately or subsequently transferred to another channel on the network and resources to the under-utilized channel may be eliminated. The channels may be dynamically monitored such that any changes in usage are addressed and users may be transferred multiple times to conserve resources.

In one example, a method of operating a communication system is provided. The method also includes processing at least a quantity of the tracking area updates received at the wireless access node to determine idle timers for the wireless communication devices, where an expiration of an associated idle timer indicates that an associated wireless communication device can no longer receive the wireless access over the first frequency spectrum and can receive further wireless access over a second frequency spectrum.
