Abstract:
A method and system for maintaining a System Management BIOS (SMBIOS) in a computer system is provided. According to the proposed method and system, the BIOS of the computer system is updated first. The reserved SMBIOS information pre-stored in a memory unit is then stored into the BIOS of the computer system after the BIOS is updated. While the computer system is restarted, the reserved SMBIOS information can be written back into the rebuilt SMBIOS block.
Abstract:
A BIOS updating method includes the following steps: First, a BIOS image file is divided into a plurality of BIOS files. Then, at least one BIOS updating file is inserted into the BIOS files or is substituted for one of the BIOS files to provide a plurality of updated BIOS files. Finally, the updated BIOS files are packaged to provide an updated image file.
Abstract:
A dual-band circularly polarized antenna is disclosed, which includes a ground metal plate, a dielectric substrate, a first microstrip radiation portion and a second microstrip radiation portion. The dielectric substrate is formed on the ground metal plate. The first microstrip radiation portion is formed on the dielectric substrate and has at least one pair of symmetric truncated corners. The second microstrip radiation portion is formed on the dielectric substrate and includes a plurality of radiation units. Each of the plurality of radiation units is extended from the first microstrip radiation portion along a first direction.
Abstract:
A communication channel setting method and a communication channel selection method for an electronic device are provided. The communication channel setting method measures the interference between two communication protocols implemented on the same electronic device and stores threshold values and a look-up table obtained from the measurements in the electronic device. Next, the electronic device executes the channel selection method. The channel selection method selects usable channels of one of the two communication protocols according to the threshold values and the look-up table, thereby preventing or alleviating the interference between the communication protocols.
Abstract:
Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to enabling or disabling a port by writing to a reset write-once register. A boot process for a device is initiated. The reset write-once register is set, during the boot process, to disable or enable the port.
Abstract:
An electronic system and a method for driving an electronic device are disclosed. The method for driving the electronic device includes steps as follows. A storage medium is provided. The storage medium has a file system accessible by a BIOS and stores program codes for driving the electronic device. Then, the electronic device is driven by a driver stored in the storage medium. Afterwards, stream data transmitted by the electronic device is received and outputted.
Abstract:
A method and a system for protecting data are provided. When a computer system is powered on, a verification code is compared with a predetermined verification code. If the verification code matches the predetermined verification code, an encrypted configuration data stored in a configuration data block of a storage device is decrypted with the verification code to obtain an original configuration data of the storage device. Thereby, data loss is effectively prevented and a data protection mechanism is provided.
Abstract:
A data protection method for an electronic device having a storage medium is provided, wherein the storage medium includes a plurality of partitions and a partition table. In the data protection method, a partition entry point and a partition data corresponding to the specific partition are captured and sent to an external storage device when the electronic device enters a shutdown process. Then, the partition entry point is deleted from the partition table and the partition data is removed from the storage medium. When the electronic device is turned on, a user has to provide the corresponding external storage device to restore the partition entry point and the partition data back to the storage medium. Thereby, personal data stored in the storage medium is protected and accordingly data security is ensured.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for booting a computer system. The method includes the steps of executing a hardware initialization process, starting a setting interface according to a trigger signal, determining whether a specific setting option belongs to a specific option group when the value of the specific setting option in the setting interface is changed and loading an operating system to the computer system when the specific setting option belongs to the specific option group.
Abstract:
A quick image capture system for a notebook computer able to capture the images while the notebook computer does not launch an operation system is described. The quick image capture system includes a hot key, a read-only memory, a central processing unit, a chip set, a random-access memory, a video module and a camera module. The read-only memory stores a driving software. When the hot key is triggered, the central processing unit reads the driving software from the read-only memory and executes the driving software so as to enable the video module, display and the camera module by the chip set.
