    Abstract: A communication system includes master host unit, hybrid expansion unit, and remote antenna unit. Master host unit communicates analog signals with service provider interfaces. Master host unit and hybrid expansion unit communicate N-bit words of digitized spectrum over communication link. Hybrid expansion unit converts between N-bit words and analog spectrum. Hybrid expansion unit and remote antenna unit communicate analog spectrum over analog communication medium. Remote antenna unit transmits and receives wireless signals over air interfaces. Master host unit includes master clock distribution unit that generates digital master reference clock signal. Master host unit communicates digital master reference clock signal over communication link. Hybrid expansion unit receives digital master reference clock signal from master host unit over communication link and generates analog reference clock signal based on digital master reference clock signal. Hybrid expansion unit sends, and remote antenna unit receives, analog reference clock signal across analog communication medium.

    Abstract: A modular wireless communications platform is provided. The modular wireless communications platform has a modular host unit and a modular remote unit in communication with the modular host unit. The modular host unit and remote unit include a serial radio frequency communicator configured to convert serial digital data into RF sampled data and configured to convert RF sampled data into serial digital data. The modular host unit and remote unit also include an interface coupled to the serial radio frequency communicator and configured to allow transfer of the RF sampled data from the serial radio frequency communicator to a digital to analog radio frequency transceiver module.

    Abstract: A distributed antenna system (DAS) includes host that receives downstream signals corresponding to radio frequency (RF) channel and remote antenna units (RAUs) communicatively coupled to host. Host communicates downstream transport signal derived from downstream signals received at host to RAUs. Each RAU uses downstream transport signal to generate downstream RF signal for radiation from antenna associated with RAU. Downstream RF signal comprises a subset of plurality of downstream frequency bands. Each RAU receives upstream RF signal including respective RF channel. Each RAU communicates upstream transport signal derived from upstream RF signal to host. Host uses upstream transport signal to generate upstream signal including at least one upstream frequency band. Host analyzes attribute of downstream and upstream transport signals associated with RAUs, correlates analyzed attribute for each RAU with profile, and determines current capacity usage of RAUs based on correlation. Host dynamically allocates capacity amongst RAUs based on current capacity usage.

    Abstract: A signal interface unit for a distributed antenna system includes a channelized radio carrier interface configured to communicate an uplink channelized radio carrier for a radio frequency carrier to a channelized radio carrier base station interface; an antenna side interface configured to receive an uplink digitized radio frequency signal from the distributed antenna system communicatively coupled to the antenna side interface, wherein the uplink digitized radio frequency signal includes baseband data having bits; and a signal conversion module communicatively coupled between the channelized radio carrier interface and the antenna side interface and configured to convert between the uplink digitized radio frequency signal and the uplink channelized radio carrier at least in part by performing an adjustment of the bits included in the baseband data for the uplink digitized radio frequency signal received from the distributed antenna system to comply with requirements of the channelized radio carrier base station interface.
