摘要： A fanout diffractive optical element having a discrete periodic surface relief structure having a 2-dimensional (x,y) shape is described. The surface relief structure can include a first lobe and a second lobe separated by a waist region having a width less than the first lobe and the second lobe. The 2-dimensional (x,y) shape of surface relief structure can have an inversion center and can lack symmetry about any plane that is normal to the surface relief structure. Also described are apparatuses having a fanout diffractive optical element and methods of producing a plurality of light diffracting orders using a fanout diffractive optical element.

摘要： A multi-region compressed wax article such as a candle is made by simultaneously dispensing multiple types of wax particles into a pressing mold to form a body of wax particles having corresponding multiple regions, and then the body of wax particles is compressed. A mass of wax particles divided into regions can be formed directly in the mold, or outside of the mold, and then dispensed into the mold to form a body of particles for compression. Alternatively, a body of wax particles can be formed directly in the mold, or outside of the mold and then transferred into the mold for compression. The resulting multi-region compressed wax article can have contiguous or non-contiguous regions of various shapes, such as parallel, swirled, checkered.

摘要： Data reliability testing for a magnetic tape drive is conducted separately for the channels of a magnetic tape drive which write and read tracks of a multiple track magnetic tape. Memory stores testing data representing data separately written to tracks of a multiple track magnetic tape; each of a plurality of read channels reads data sensed by a tape head from a separate track of a magnetic tape; and error processing logic detects differences between data from each of a plurality of the read channels, and stored testing data of the memory representing data written to the same separate tracks.
