Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to holographic display of content based on visibility. Low visibility of a 2-dimensional (2D) display with respect to a user can be detected. In response to detecting the low visibility, holographic content display characteristics of holographic content to be generated from the 2D display can be determined. Based on the determined holographic content display characteristics, holographic content can be generated via a holographic display of the 2D display.

Abstract: A programmable multiple-point illuminator for an optical microscope (M) comprises a light source (1, 2) and a spatial light modulator (SLM) to modulate a light beam from the light source. The modulated light beam is intended to scan across a sample placed under the microscope objective (21), the sample being provided with fluorophores. The SLM comprises a first acousto-optic deflector (8) and a second acousto-optic deflector (9), the first acousto-optic deflector having a first modulation plane (81) and the second acousto-optic deflector having a second modulation plane (91), said two acousto-optic deflectors being arranged in cascade to provide respective deflection in different directions, whereby the SLM is enabled to scan in two dimensions across the sample. The SLM further comprises a telescope relay (10) to conjugate the first modulation plane with the second modulation plane. The illuminator also comprises an arbitrary waveform generator (13) that is configured to synthesize holograms, and is arranged to simultaneously inject a first such hologram into the first acousto-optic deflector and a second such hologram into the second acousto-optic deflector, in order for the SLM to modulate the light beam in response to said holograms.

Abstract: A modular routing node includes a single input port and a plurality of output ports. The modular routing node is arranged to produce a plurality of different deflections and uses small adjustments to compensate for wavelength differences and alignment tolerances in an optical system. An optical device is arranged to receive a multiplex of many optical signals at different wavelengths, to separate the optical signals into at least two groups, and to process at least one of the groups adaptively.

Abstract: A method of fabricating a component (1) comprises the steps of providing precursor material in a working medium, creating acoustic forces and positioning the precursor material in the working medium under the effect of the acoustic forces, so that a material distribution is formed, which has a shape of the component to be fabricated, and subjecting at least one of the material distribution and the working medium to a fixation, so that the precursor material of the material distribution or the working medium surrounding the material distribution is bound, wherein the step of creating the acoustic forces includes generating an acoustic interference pattern (5), and the material distribution (4) is formed by moving the precursor material (2) towards energy extrema of the acoustic interference pattern (5). Furthermore, an apparatus (100) for fabricating a component (1) is described.

Abstract: A holographic display device for computing a video hologram of a scene is disclosed. The scene comprises a multitude of object points. The holographic display device comprises at least one light modulator means. Said holographic display device is configured to perform the steps of (a) defining a visibility region within a periodicity interval of the video hologram of the scene to be reconstructed; (b) for each object point, defining a modulator region by the defined visibility region together with each object point of the scene to be reconstructed, where a sub-hologram of an object point of the scene to be reconstructed is computed for each modulator region, and where an entire video hologram is created by superposition of said sub-holograms; (c) determining complex hologram values of a sub-hologram in a modulator region from a wave front of an object point to be reconstructed by computing modulation functions of an imaging element which is modeled in the respective modulator region of said holographic display device, and in whose focal point the object point to be reconstructed lies, where the sub-hologram of said object point is computed using the modulation functions, and (d) encoding the video hologram of the scene into the screen means.
