    摘要: A potentiometer is driven by one of the serpentine arm assemblies used to maintain apron tension during formation of a round bale so that the output of the potentiometer continuously provides an indication of the size of a bale being formed in the baler. A microprocessor based control circuit senses the output of the potentiometer, converts it to a digital value, and compares the digital value with a value representing a desired bale size. When the two values are equal, the microprocessor computes the number of revolutions of a net feed roll that is required to wrap the bale a preselected number of times, energizes the net feed roll mechanism to feed net into the bale forming chamber, and counts the revolutions of the net feed roll. When the required amount of net has been dispensed, the microprocessor stops the net feed roll and activates a mechanism to cut the net. The size of a "full bale" is selected by actuating keys on a control panel. An offset is automatically provided to compensate for wear in the apron mechanism affecting the "zero" setting of the bale size sensor. The system permits signalling the operator to steer left or right along a window to control bale shape as the bale being formed in the chamber increases in diameter, the signalling rate being non-linear with respect to bale diameter.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for cancelling cyclically recurring noise induced in a magnetic metal detector by movement of ferrous machine parts in the field of the detector provides for periodically sampling the output of the metal detector, delaying each sample for the duration of one cycle of the cyclically recurring noise, and subtracting the samples taken in one cycle from the output of the metal detector during the following cycle. The delay is accomplished by a delay line or shift register, or by storing the samples under microprocessor control. If the noise has a first component occuring at a first rate and a second component occuring at a second rate cancellation of both components may be accomplished.

    摘要: In one embodiment, an operator control panel includes an enclosure in which a liquid crystal display and a pair of lamps are disposed. A first reflective surface is located inside the enclosure, and a second reflective surface is located outside the enclosure. The lamps are positioned so that light rays from their filaments are projected rearwardly onto the first reflective surface and then forwardly onto the back of the liquid crystal display while other light rays from the lamp filaments are projected forwardly onto the second reflective surface and then downwardly onto the front of the control panel. In another embodiment of the operator control panel, the lamps are disposed outside the enclosure and the second reflective surface is omitted.

    摘要: Metal detectors having parallel magnetic fields produce signals which vary depending upon the shape and orientation of a metal object passing through the field. An improved metal detector sensor includes a magnet of special configuration having a multi-directional magnetic field resulting in a detector which is insensitive to orientation of the detected metal. One embodiment of the magnet is a pattern of cylindrical poles with the opposing pole central to the cylinder, thus creating a multiplicity of radially extending magnet fields. An alternate embodiment of the invention is an offset pattern of opposite poles which create two groups of fields, each at an angle to the general direction of movement of the material fed into the machine.

    摘要: A hydrostatic system and method of operation thereof, wherein at least one of a fluid motor and a pump of the system has a displacement which is variable for controlling a speed of operation of the motor, the pump being driven by an engine, and a controller configured for monitoring the speed of operation of the motor and an operating characteristic of the engine and automatically controlling the displacement responsive thereto, wherein if the operating characteristic is indicative of engine performance above a predetermined threshold, the controller will control the displacement for maintaining the speed of operation of the motor at about a predetermined value, and, if the operating characteristic is indicative of engine performance below the threshold, the controller will hold the displacement at a constant value. As a result, the controller can prevent the system from further decreasing the engine performance. And, if the engine performance increases to that or another threshold, the controller will automatically switch back to controlling the displacement for holding the motor speed at the predetermined value, optionally including to incrementally increase the speed to the predetermined value.

    摘要: In a two-channel magnetic metal detector having first and second mutually inductively coupled detection coils connected to first and second detection channels, respectively, the inductance of the coils is tested by applying a square wave test signal to the first detection coil and determining if the resulting output signal from the second detection channel has a magnitude falling within a range of magnitudes defined by two threshold values stored in a non-volatile memory. A microcomputer applies digital signals to a digital to analog converter to generate the square wave. The output signal from the second detection channel is repetitively sampled and digitized and the digital values are transferred to the microcomputer which includes means for comparing the digital values with the threshold values. If a comparison determines that the magnitude of the output signal from the second detection channel does not fall within the range of magnitudes defined by the threshold values, the microcomputer generates an error indication.

    摘要: Under the control of a microprocessor first and second motors alternately drive first and second ends of a shear bar for adjusting the position of the shear bar relative to cutter head. The shear bar is adjusted so that it is substantially parallel to the cutter head even though the cutter head and shear bar may not be parallel at the time the adjustment is initiated. A knock sensor is provided for sensing impacts between the cutter head and shear bar, the knock sensor output signal being converted to a digital value for controlling the adjusting sequence. A knocker is provided for inducing vibrations in the shear bar to thereby test the operability of the knock sensor and its output circuitry. The sensitivity of the adjustment system to the output of the knock sensor is set automatically before an adjustment sequence begins to account for variations in the knock sensor, its output circuitry, and "noise" vibrations induced in the shear bar by normal machine operation.
