    Abstract: A handheld appliance having a body and an attachment, the body including an outer tube and fluid flow path extending from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet within the outer tube and a printed circuit board (PCB) arranged within the fluid flow path wherein, the PCB is housed within a housing. The body may further include an inner wall and the inner wall provides the housing for the PCB and the fluid flow path may extend around the housing. The housing may be generally rectangular and may extend across an internal radius of the outer tube. The fluid flow path may extend around both sides of the housing. The housing may include a heat sink which may be in contact with the fluid flow path on one side and with components on the PCB on the other side.

    Abstract: A hair care appliance that includes a body, a fluid flow path extending from a fluid inlet into the appliance to a fluid outlet from the body, a heater for heating fluid in the fluid flow path, a pre-heater located upstream of the heater and a thermal safety device positioned between the pre-heater and the heater. The pre-heater may include a resistive element. The pre-heater may be electrically connected to the heater via a heater circuit. The thermal safety device may be electrically connected to the heater via the heater circuit. When the appliance is activated, fluid may flow from the fluid inlet through the pre-heater, past the thermal safety device, through the heater and on to the fluid outlet. The thermal safety device may extend orthogonal to a longitudinal axis A-A of the body.
