An apparatus and method for pitch-shifting an audio signal with low complexity are disclosed. The method includes identifying a distance between an audio object included in the audio signal and a listener, checking whether the distance between the audio object and the listener decreases, and performing stepwise stretching pitch-shifting of repeatedly using at least one of frequency components of the audio signal when the distance between the audio object and the listener decreases.

A broadcast transmitting apparatus and method, and a broadcast playback apparatus and method for providing an object-based audio by encoding and decoding a multichannel audio signal are provided. The broadcast transmitting apparatus may generate audio identification information used to determine whether the multichannel audio signal is an object-based audio signal. When the multichannel audio signal is determined to be the object-based audio signal, based on the audio identification information, the broadcast playback apparatus may control and output the multichannel audio signal for each channel.

To achieve the above, the present invention includes filtering a plurality of ESs according to common information, adding a packet header to the respective filtered ESs and generate ES packets, aggregating all the generated ES packets and then adding a multi-object packet header to the aggregated ES packets to generate an object packet, and multiplexing the generated object packet, packetizing the multiplexed object packet according to a transmitting media and transmitting the packetized object packet.

An acoustic feature prediction method of the audio system may include generating a detection signal based on an input signal and a modulation code; generating an acoustic signal based on the detection signal and outputting the acoustic signal to a plurality of speakers; measuring acoustic signals output from the speakers where the speakers are installed; and predicting acoustic features related to the speakers based on the measured acoustic signals and the modulation code.

Provided are a method of encoding and decoding a multichannel audio signal, and an encoder and a decoder to perform the method. The present invention may perform encoding into consideration of a size of bit to be allocated based on a feature of audio signal for each channel with respect to an audio signal having a plurality of channels, thereby enhancing an encoding efficiency of the multichannel audio signal.
