Abstract:
Disclosed are a process for separating an electrode for membrane-electrode assemblies of fuel cells from the decal transfer film and an apparatus for separating the electrode. In particular, during the electrode separating process, only an electrode is separated from the decal transfer film on which the electrode is coated, without any damage, by a freezing method for freezing the specimen on the deionized water surface, and thus, wasting the expensive MEA is prevented. Thus, mechanical properties of the pristine electrode can be rapidly quantified in advance, and therefore, long term durability evaluation period during developing MEA having excellent durability is substantially reduced.
Abstract:
An apparatus for measuring micro-cracks in a membrane electrode assembly includes a resistance measurement unit to measure variation in electrical resistance of the membrane electrode assembly while tensioning the membrane electrode assembly in a state in which power is applied to an upper catalyst layer while a lower catalyst layer is insulated, an image capture unit to capture an image of micro-cracks in the upper catalyst layer while the membrane electrode assembly is being tensioned, and a controller to detect, in real time, variation in electrical resistance measured by the resistance measurement unit, corresponding to the image of micro-cracks captured by the image capture unit, and to interpret the size of the micro-cracks generated in the membrane electrode assembly based on the detected variation in electrical resistance.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a pinhole inspection apparatus, system and method for a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell, which can easily detect the position of a pinhole using water and a pH test paper from discoloration caused when the water is in contact with the pH test paper through the pinhole, thus solving the existing problems and allowing the membrane electrode assembly to be reused after the inspection. In particular, a lower fixture is configured to support the membrane electrode assembly and water is uniformly distributed on an upper surface of the membrane electrode assembly. A pH test paper is inserted between the membrane electrode assembly and the lower fixture and discolored upon coming in contact with water that passes through a pinhole in the membrane electrode assembly, thus detecting the presence and position of the pinhole.
Abstract:
Disclosed are an antioxidant for fuel cells, a membrane electrode assembly including the same and a method for preparing the antioxidant. The antioxidant for fuel cells includes a core including at least one selected from the group consisting of a metal oxide (MxOk) and a complex metal oxide (MxNyOj, N and M being different metals), and an outer portion (e.g., a shell) located on or over a surface of the core and formed by performing reduction treatment of the surface of the core using a thiourea-based compound. The outer portion includes metal cations (M(x-n)+, n being a natural number of 1 or more) having a smaller oxidation number than a valency of the metal (M) of the core.

The catalyst complex includes a support including carbon (C), platinum (Pt) supported on the support, and an iridium (Ir) compound supported on the support, and the iridium compound includes at least one of iridium oxide represented by Chemical Formula 1, IrOx, and iridium-transition-metal oxide represented by Chemical Formula 2, IrMOx, wherein M is a transition metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, Cu, Ni and combinations thereof, and x is from 1 to 2.
Abstract:
A water electrolysis system includes a water electrolytic stack, a water reservoir connected to the water electrolytic stack to supply water to the water electrolytic stack, a water circulation pump supplying the water in the water reservoir to the electrolytic stack; and a control unit configured to, during an operation stoppage of the electrolysis system, control the driving of the water circulation pump to convert the water in the electrolytic stack from an acidic condition to a neutral condition and to regulate a unit cell voltage of the electrolytic stack to a voltage such that an electrolysis reaction does not occur and a chemical state of an anode catalyst is stably maintained.
Abstract:
Disclosed are an antioxidant for a fuel cell having a high degree of dispersion and/or distribution and excellent antioxidant capability and a membrane-electrode assembly including the same. The antioxidant includes a metal oxide and a sulfur-containing organic compound, for example, an organic compound including a sulfinic acid anion group (R—SO2−), adsorbed on the metal oxide.
