摘要: Disclosed is an improvement in the process for making an aromatic carboxylic acid or its methyl ester from an aromatic compound having at least one methyl or formyl group bonded directly to a nuclear carbon atom of the aromatic ring. The process comprises effecting oxidation of said compound in the liquid phase with molecular oxygen or a gas containing the same with a catalyst comprising a heavy metal compound, and in the substantial absence of an aliphatic carboxylic acid as a solvent, whereby a reaction mixture comprising the acid is formed. If the ester is desired, the acid then is esterified with methanol. The improvement comprises carrying out the oxidation in the co-presence of a lithium compound at a concentration of 0.1-10 moles per mole of heavy metal compound. The lithium compound is at least partly soluble in the reaction mixture or reacts with an acid component of the reaction mixture to form a lithium compound soluble in the reaction mixture.

摘要: An information input apparatus for detecting input information to output operation information to a controlled apparatus is disclosed. The information input apparatus includes a steering device having a grip part and multiple connection parts connecting the grip part and a rotation shaft. A vehicle driver inputs the input information by tapping the grip part or the connection parts. The information input apparatus further includes multiple measurement devices for measuring the vibration propagating through the respective connection parts. A controller of the information input apparatus pre-stores a correspondence between a form of the vibration, which is measured with the measurement devices, and the operation information. The controller selects the operation information from the pre-stored correspondence based on measurement signals outputted from the two measurement devices.

摘要: In the stator, a thermistor housed in a tube is arranged to be sandwiched between a coil end and a U-phase bus bar, allowing the thermistor to receive heat from above and below at two faces, that is a face of the U-phase bus bar and a top face of the coil end. Moreover, the thermistor can be placed substantially in close contact with the coil end. Accordingly, the temperature followability by the thermistor can be realized at high accuracy. As a result, there can be provided a stator having a configuration in which temperature followability of high accuracy can be achieved in measuring the temperature of a coil of a stator using a temperature detection element, and that can correspond to further downsizing of a rotating electric machine.

摘要: A drowsiness alarm apparatus and a program for decreasing the possibility of incorrectly issuing an alarm due to an expressed emotion is provided. A wakefulness degree calculation apparatus performs a wakeful face feature collection process to collect a wakefulness degree criterion and an average representative feature distance. A doze alarm process collects a characteristic opening degree value and a characteristic feature distance. The wakefulness degree criterion is compared with the characteristic opening degree value to estimate a wakefulness degree. The average representative feature distance is compared with the characteristic feature distance to determine whether the face of the driver expresses a specific emotion. If the face expresses the emotion, alarm output is inhibited. When the face does not express the emotion, an alarm is output in accordance with the degree of decreased wakefulness so as to provide an increased alarm degree for the driver if necessary.
