    摘要: A method of growing a single crystal of KTiOPO.sub.4 which is a nonlinear optical material is disclosed. Growth of the single crystal of KTiOPO.sub.4 is carried out by melting a KTiOPO.sub.4 material with a flux to produce a melt, then contacting a seed crystal to the melt, and by slowly cooling at a saturation temperature or below. At this time, molar fractions of K.sub.2 O, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 and TiO.sub.2 contained in the melt fall within a region surrounded by six point in a K.sub.2 O-P.sub.2 O.sub.5 -TiO.sub.2 ternary phase diagram of A (K.sub.2 O:0.4150, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 :0.3906, TiO.sub.2 : 0.1944), B (K.sub.2 O:0.3750, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 : 0.3565, TiO.sub.2 : 0.2685), C (K.sub.2 O: 0.3750, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 : 0.3438, TiO.sub.2 : 0.2813), D (K.sub.2 O: 0.3850, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 : 0.3260, TiO.sub.2 : 0.2890), E (K.sub.2 O: 0.4000, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 : 0.3344, TiO.sub.2 : 0.2656), and F (K.sub.2 O: 0.4158, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 : 0.3744, TiO.sub.2 : 0.2098). In addition, K.sub.15 P.sub.13 O.sub.40 or the same composition produced by melting is used as the flux, and the proportion of a KTiOPO.sub.4 element in a composition of the melt is prescribed to 83.5 to 90.0 mol %. The seed crystal is set so that a C axis is in a direction perpendicular to a melt surface. Then, the seed crystal contacted to the melt is rotated and slowly cooled. Thus, a single crystal of KTiOPO.sub.4 of single domain at the end of growth can be produced.

摘要: Focussing error detecting apparatus includes a composite lens formed of a single glass lens and a single plastic lens and a photodetector disposed behind the composite lens in opposed relation thereto. The glass lens has a uniform focal length, the plastic lens is formed of a pair of lens regions divided by a flat interface including an optical axis of light incident on the composite lens, and the pair of lens regions have back focal lengths different from each other and optical axes spaced apart from each other. The photodetector is placed so that its photodetecting face is at a middle point between converged points of light emitted from the pair of lens regions on the optical axis of the incident light when the light incident on the composite lens is focussed. The photodetector comprises first and second photodetecting sensors for receiving light passed through portions of the first lens region which are respectively spaced apart from and adjacent to the flat interface and third and fourth photodetecting sensors for receiving light passed through portions of the second lens region which are respectively spaced apart from and adjacent to the flat interface so that a focusing error signal is produced from the difference between the sum of first and fourth photodetected signals from the first and fourth photodetecting sensors and the sum of second and third photodetected signals from the second and third photodetecting sensors.

摘要: In an optical reproducing apparatus a divergent beam from a semiconductor laser light source is collimated to form a parallel light beam that is converged by an objective lens and focussed on an optical record medium. The light beam is reflected by the optical record medium and introduced into a signal photodetector so as to provide a reproduced signal. A phase type diffraction grating between the semiconductor laser light source and a beam splitter separates the laser beam from the semiconductor laser light source into zero, plus first and minus first order diffracted beams. A pair of tracking photodetectors receive reflected beams of the plus first and minus first order diffracted beams reflected by the optical record medium and then by the beam splitter. A concave lens located between the photodetectors and the beam splitter facilitates convenient positioning of the photodetectors so that a tracking error signal can be obtained by calculating the difference between the outputs of the first and second tracking photodetectors.

摘要: A clear image unaffected by the brightness of the projection environment. The projection screen according to the present invention is a projection screen for projecting thereupon narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light to display an image, and comprises an optical thin film (3) which has high reflection properties regarding the narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light, and has high transmission properties regarding at least visible wavelength band light other than the wavelength band light, on a screen base (2). With the projection screen according to the present invention configured as above, the optical thin film (3) serves as a so-called band filter. That is to say, the optical thin film (3) particularly reflects narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light and transmits light of other wavelengths, thereby functioning as a narrow-band tricolor wavelength bandwidth filter acting to separate these.

摘要: The present invention has been made to form a reflecting polarizer without using a high-birefringence polymer. The present invention provides a reflecting polarizer that transmits a first linear polarization component that oscillates parallel to a first polarization plane of an incident light and reflects a second linear polarization component that oscillates parallel to a second polarization plane perpendicular to the first polarization plane by utilizing birefringence characteristics to polarize/split the incident light, comprising a dielectric multilayer film obtained by stacking, a plurality of times in an alternate manner, a high refractive index layer formed using a dielectric material having birefringence characteristics, and a low refractive index layer formed using a dielectric material having a refractive index which is substantially the same as one of the refractive indexes that the dielectric material having birefringence characteristics has.
