摘要: A shaped reflective polarizer has different maximum sags in different directions and has an interior portion rotationally symmetric about a principle axis and a peripheral portion adjacent the interior portion and rotationally asymmetric about the principle axis. An optical system includes a partial reflector and an optical stack including an optical lens and the shaped reflective polarizer disposed on a curved major surface of the optical lens. The optical lens may have a contoured edge adapted to be placed adjacent an eye of a viewer and substantially conform to the viewer's face.

摘要: An optical film includes a first optical stack disposed on a visible light absorbing second optical stack. Each of the first and second optical stacks includes a plurality of alternating polymeric first and second layers. The first layers have a higher index of refraction than the second layers at least along an in-plane same first direction. For substantially normally incident light and for at least 80% of wavelengths in a visible wavelength range, the plurality of alternating polymeric first and second layers for at least the first optical stack reflects more than about 60% of the incident light polarized along the first direction and transmits more than about 45% of the incident light polarized along an in-plane orthogonal second direction, and at least the first layers of the second optical stack are more light absorbing for the incident light polarized along the first direction than the second direction.

摘要: An identification medium includes a first layer, and a second layer disposed thereon in a manner of overlapping with the first layer. The first layer is capable of reflecting one of clockwise circular polarized light and counterclockwise circular polarized light and allowing to pass therethrough the remaining circular polarized light. The second layer is capable of reflecting at least a portion of circular polarized light having the same rotation direction as that of the circular polarized light that the first layer reflects, and allowing to pass therethrough circular polarized light having an opposite rotation direction to that of the circular polarized light reflected by the first layer. 摘要: Optical systems including a reflective polarizer are described. The reflective polarizer includes first and second reflection zones, such that for light substantially normally incident on the reflective polarizer, the first zone substantially reflects light in a first wavelength range and substantially transmits light in a different non-overlapping second wavelength range, and the second zone substantially reflects light in the second wavelength range and substantially transmits light in the first wavelength range. The first and second reflection zones have first and second thicknesses having corresponding first and second mid-points separated by a distance d. In some embodiments, a longitudinal chromatic aberration of the optical imaging system of the first wavelength range to the second wavelength range caused when reducing d so that the first and second reflection zones are immediately adjacent is a distance h where 0.3 h≤d≤0.7 h.

A ratio of the first intensity integral over the second intensity integral is defined as a first ratio, and the first ratio is greater than 0% and less than or equal to 7.5%.

摘要: An optical system includes a partial reflector having an average optical reflectance of at least 30% in a plurality of wavelengths, an image source disposed to emit image light toward the partial reflector, and a reflective polarizer disposed proximate the partial reflector. The reflective polarizer is curved about two orthogonal axes and can include at least one layer substantially optically uniaxial at at least one location. The image light may be transmitted by the reflective polarizer after it is first reflected by the reflective polarizer. Substantially any chief light ray having at least first and second wavelengths at least 150 nm apart in the plurality of wavelengths and emitted by the image source and transmitted by a stop surface or exit pupil of the optical system has a color separation distance of less than 1.5 percent of a field of view.
