The projection screen according to the present invention is a projection screen for projecting thereupon narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light to display an image, and comprises an optical thin film (3) which has high reflection properties regarding the narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light, and has high transmission properties regarding at least visible wavelength band light other than the wavelength band light, on a screen base (2). With the projection screen according to the present invention configured as above, the optical thin film (3) serves as a so-called band filter. That is to say, the optical thin film (3) particularly reflects narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light and transmits light of other wavelengths, thereby functioning as a narrow-band tricolor wavelength bandwidth filter acting to separate these.

The light diffusing layer has the diffusion property that in one (A axis) of two perpendicular axial directions on a light diffusion plane, a luminance distribution curve versus incidence angle is asymmetric with respect to the zero-incidence-angle axis, and the side on which the incidence angle (half-luminance incidence angle) with half of a peak luminance on the A axis in the normal direction to the screen plane is small faces in a direction in which external light has the highest strength.

This screen has a diffusion layer whose diffusion characteristic expressed as a luminance distribution with respect to a scattering angle of incident light incident at an angle of 0° is varied such that the peak position of the luminance distribution is shifted towards a greater value of scattering angle in the direction of the central portion of the screen the greater the distance from the central portion of the screen is. 摘要: A method for forming an optical component includes (i) depositing optical layers on a base, and (ii) controlling a thickness of a tuning layer by (a) depositing the tuning layer on the optical layers, (b) measuring a first optical characteristic, (c) measuring a second optical characteristic after continued deposition of the tuning layer, (d) determining whether the second optical characteristic has decreased compared to the first optical characteristic, (e) when the second optical characteristic has not decreased, continuing deposition of the tuning layer and returning to steps (ii)(b)-(e), when the second optical characteristic has decreased, terminating the depositing and removing a portion of the tuning layer formed during a period of time defined from when an increase/decrease of the second optical characteristic is stopped to when the second optical characteristic is changed to be decreased, and (f) adding a layer of a lower refractive index on the tuning layer.
