Abstract: A dedicated network handover method, a dedicated network type notification method, and a device, so as to ensure that user equipment (UE) is handed over to a dedicated core network (CN) network element of a corresponding CN type in a handover process, are presented. The CN network element device mainly includes a receiver configured to receive CN type information of UE sent by a first dedicated CN network element; a processor configured to determine, according to the CN type information, identifier information of a second dedicated CN network element that supports a CN type indicated by the CN type information; and the processor configured to hand over, according to the identifier information, the UE to the second dedicated CN network element corresponding to the identifier information.

Abstract: A service implementation method, apparatus, and system are disclosed. The service implementation method includes: receiving, by a serving gateway, a data packet of a terminal device sent by a packet data network gateway; if the data packet is a data packet with a serving priority and the serving gateway has sent a paging trigger message with a serving priority to a mobility management element, skipping, by the serving gateway, sending a paging trigger message to the mobility management element; or if the data packet is a data packet with a serving priority and the serving gateway has sent no paging trigger message with a serving priority to a mobility management element, sending, by the serving gateway, a paging trigger message to the mobility management element; wherein the paging trigger message is used to enable the mobility management element to page the terminal device.

Abstract: This application provides a method and an apparatus for discovering an edge service. The method includes: A first network element receives first information, where the first information includes first service information. The first network element receives second information, where the second information includes first domain name information. When the first domain name information corresponds to the first service information, the first network element determines, for a first terminal device, an application server that is the same as that of a second terminal device or an application server in an edge network that is the same as that of a second terminal device. The first network element sends a third rule, where the third rule includes second option information, and the second option information is used by a DNS server to determine application server address information.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for initiating user plane path re-establishment and a communications system are disclosed. The method includes: determining, by a session management function entity based on first location information of a terminal device, a session service area to which a current session of the terminal device belongs; and after receiving second location information of the terminal device sent by a mobility management function entity, if determining that the second location information is not within the session service area, instructing the terminal device to initiate a re-establishment procedure for the current session or initiate a handover procedure. Due to introduction of the session service area, when the terminal device moves back and forth at edges of service areas of two adjacent user plane function entities, a ping-pong effect caused by frequent handover between the two user plane function entities is avoided, and user experience is improved.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for acquisition of an Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)/IPv6 neighbour cache at a user plane function (UPF) entity without performing deep packet inspection for every packet that traverses a network. The ARP broadcast/Internet Control Message Protocol version 6 (ICMPv6) neighbour solicitation multicast from any Ethernet client (a user equipment (UE) or clients behind the UE or clients in a data network (DN)) is responded to by the UPF entity itself, by looking up the ARP/IPv6 Neighbour cache built in the UPF entity, irrespective of whether the UPF entity acts as the core Ethernet switch or whether the core Ethernet switch is in the DN. The solution is simplified to always intercept ARP at the UPF entity and respond to it based on a local ARP/IPv6 Neighbour cache.
