A system where a home server can recognize a location of a home device in a home network. The home device includes a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag which stores information about the home device, and each plug receptacle constituting the home network has an RFID reader. Accordingly, the RFID reader checks the location of the RFID tag in real time and transfers the information about the RFID tag and a receptacle identifier to a home server, so that the home server recognizes the location of the home device in real time using the information transferred. Therefore, using the transferred information, the home server can recognize in real-time the location of the home device, and also transfer necessary information to the home device.

According to the invention, in order to provide profile information for serving a user to a service provider at a place other than a home, a user device, an external device, an authentication server and a profile server are provided and interconnected through a network such as the Internet. A device and method of sharing contents based on time synchronization are provided. A first device may generate a time stamp with respect to contents being replayed by a second device and transmit the time stamp to the second device. In response, the second device may generate a contents list based on the time stamp and transmit the contents list to the first device. The first device may request contents selected by a user from among the contents list, and the second device may provide the requested contents to the first device.

An apparatus and method for synchronization between devices through a wireless connection are provided. The method includes sensing at least one event, selecting a policy corresponding to the at least one event from one or more preset policies, generating a transmission message including the event corresponding to the selected policy and transmitting to a counterpart device the transmission message, receiving from the counterpart device a reception message including the at least one event, confirming the policy corresponding to the event included in the reception message, and synchronizing a folder in real time by performing the event based on the policy.

A method and system are provided for automatic wireless connection to a digital device in a portable terminal, wherein information about the portable terminal is acquired. The information about the portable terminal is commonly used for automatic wireless connection to the digital device. A state of a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is checked and activated, and the WLAN is set to an Ad-hoc mode. A Service Set Identifier (SSID) of the WLAN is set using the acquired portable terminal information, a security key of the WLAN is set using the acquired portable terminal information, and an Internet Protocol (IP) address of the WLAN is automatically set using the acquired portable terminal information.
