    Abstract: In an example, a mobile computing device such as a tablet, laptop, or convertible is operable to couple to a docking station via high-frequency wireless such as WiGig at 60 GHz. Because high-frequency signals are highly directional, the mobile computing device is provided with a high-frequency antenna operable as a rotor. In one embodiment, the antenna is freely hinged to a gravitational pivot, and pivots toward the docking station responsive to gravitational torque. In another embodiment, an actuator drives the antenna to a correct angle responsive to a rotational sensor. In this case, an angle sweep may be performed around a midpoint to identify a best angle for high-frequency communication.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and system to compress a data file to form a compressed data file. The data file may be used to configure control of hardware, such as peripheral hardware. The compressed data file may be stored locally or transmitted to another computer device. The compressed data file may be stored in a flash memory. The compressed data file may require less space in flash memory components, relative to flash memory suitable to hold the (original, pre-compressed) data file. Compression and/or decompression may be performed by, for example, a flash memory controller. The compressed data file may be decompressed dynamically, on an as-needed basis, to provide code for execution by a processor and/or to configure a computer device to use hardware or other components. Other software and hardware components do not need to be aware that the data file is compressed in the flash memory.

    Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms for providing redundancy with multiple batteries of a backup power system. In an embodiment, switch circuits are each coupled between a power bus and a different respective one of the multiple batteries. Respective nodes of the switch circuits are each to couple to a different respective power sink, wherein power delivery to the power sinks is monitored. Based on the monitoring, the switch circuits are configured for a first battery to serve a substitute for a second battery. Configuring the switch circuits includes electrically decoupling the second battery from a first node, and electrically coupling the first battery to deliver power via both a power bus and the first node. In another embodiment, multiple backup units each include a respective battery and switch circuit, wherein respective controllers of the backup units intermittently communicate monitoring information via a data bus.
