摘要: Disclosed is an ink composition which comprises (a) water, (b) a colorant, (c) a fluorinated material selected from: (1) those of the formula (F.sub.2n+1 C.sub.n CH.sub.2 S).sub.2 (CH.sub.3)C--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COO.sup.- !B.sup.+ !, wherein n is an integer of from about 8 to about 20 and B is a cation, (2) those of the formula (F.sub.3 C(F.sub.2 C).sub.n CH.dbd.CHCH.sub.2 OCH(OH)CH.sub.2).sub.2 NCH.sub.2 COO.sup.- !X.sup.+ !, wherein X is a cation and n is an integer of from about 3 to about 20, and (3) mixtures thereof, and (d) a monomeric compound having at least two carboxylic acid functional groups. Also disclosed is a process for preparing said ink composition which comprises (i) admixing the ink ingredients, and (ii) subjecting the mixture thus formed to ultrasonification, thereby reducing the average particle diameter of liposomes of the fluorinated material in the ink. Further disclosed is a process which entails (i) incorporating into an ink jet printing apparatus the aforementioned ink composition, and (ii) causing droplets of the ink composition to be ejected in an imagewise pattern onto a substrate. In a preferred embodiment, the printing apparatus employs a thermal ink jet process wherein the ink in the nozzles is selectively heated in an imagewise pattern, thereby causing droplets of the ink to be ejected in imagewise pattern.

摘要: A method for imparting reduced ignition propensity properties to a smoking article by treating the smoking article wrapper with a phase transition substance which, upon being subjected to the heat of the smoking article burning firecone, physically transforms and at least partially fills the pores of the smoking article wrapper to reduce the permeability of the wrapper in the vicinity of the burning firecone. The reduced permeability of the wrapper in the vicinity of the firecone will permit sufficient air flow to sustain free burn, but, when the smoking article is placed on a substrate, the reduced permeability of the wrapper imparts reduced ignition propensity such that there is insufficient air flow to sustain combustion of the firecone or insufficient air flow to sustain an intensity of the burning firecone necessary to ignite the substrate.

摘要: A method and apparatus for embedding information in an image during relative movement between a print medium and an ink jet print head is provided. A plurality of first lines are printed and a plurality of second lines are printed. Each of the first lines includes a plurality of first dots and a plurality of second dots offset from the first dots by a first amount, and each of the second lines includes a plurality of third dots and a plurality of fourth dots offset from the third dots by a second amount different than the first amount. The information is encoded in the image using an encoding scheme in which the first lines represent a first value in the encoding scheme and the second lines represent a second value in the encoding scheme.

摘要: An apparatus (520) for archiving signatures associated with packets received at a node in a network includes a first memory (620), a second memory (625), a signature tap (610), a multiplexer (615), and a controller (630). The signature tap (610) receives packets at the node and computes one or more signatures for each of the received packets. The multiplexer (615) aggregates the computed one or more signatures in the first memory (620) to produce one or more signature vectors. The controller (630) archives the one or more signature vectors in the second memory (625).
