Abstract:
The invention provides apoptosis signaling kinase related kinase (ASKRK) nucleic acid and polypeptide sequences and methods of using such sequences to identify modulators of ASKRK. Such modulators can be used for the treatment of diabetes or for delaying the onset of diabetes. The invention also provides methods of diagnosing diabetes or pre-diabetes and methods of making a prognosis based on the detection of ASKRK nucleic acids and proteins.
Abstract:
A liquid treatment method and system with the liquid treatment system having a container for holding a liquid treatment material therein with the liquid treatment device effectively positionable in various transitional regions in the liquid system to provide for an enhanced dispersant rate in response to increased activity in the body of water.
Abstract:
A breast carcinoma tyrosine phosphoprotein, DDR (Discoidin Domain Receptor), that defines a novel class of receptor tyrosine kinases is presented. The DDR cDNA predicts a polypeptide C-terminal tyrosine kinase domain and an N-terminal domain similar to the Dictyostelium discoideum lectin discoidin I. These domains are connected by an extraordinary hydrophilic proline/glycine-rich domain, which is interrupted by a predicted transmembrane sequence. This extended proline/glycine-rich region suggests an unusual geometry of interaction with ligand or substrates. Discoidin I-type domains may interact with specific cell surface molecules.
Abstract:
A water purification device, method and system with the water purification device having a container for holding a water purification material therein with the water purification device including a shroud extending in a direction generally normal to a flow of debris laden water with the shroud inhibiting direct flow of debris into a water inlet in the water purification device by directing water and debris over the shroud and around the water purification device while a portion of the water can be directed laterally into the water purification material within the water purification device to thereby purify the water that flows over the water purification materials with the water purification device including multiple spaced and positioned water inlets so that the likelihood of the water inlet being completely obstructed is remote.
Abstract:
A digital-to-analog converter includes a resistive divider network including a plurality of series resistors of resistance R and a plurality of shunt resistors of resistance 2R' and a circuit for switching a shunt resistor of the resistive divider network in the digital-to-analog converter to either of first and second reference voltages. The switching circuit includes a first switch MOSFET coupling the low reference voltage to the shunt resistor, and a second switch MOSFET coupling the shunt resistor to the high reference voltage. First and second switch control circuits adjust the on resistances of the first and second switch MOSFETs to be proportional to the resistances of first and second reference resistors, which have the same temperature coefficient as the resistors of which the divider network is composed. The on resistance of each of the first and second switch MOSFETs is equal to R.sub.ONi, and the resistance 2R' is equal to 2R-R.sub.ONi. The on resistances do not need to be binarily scaled.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an electrode-inlead assembly for electrical lamps which comprises a lead-in-wire connected to a foil made of refractory metal and the foil is connected to a shank made of refractory metal and supporting the electrode. The object of the invention is, that the shank is made of two parallel rods which are joined by their one end portions, and their opposite end portions are welded to the foil, so that the foil is sandwiched between the rods.
Abstract:
A dispensing system for delivery of a dispersant from a canister containing an erodible but cakeable water dispersant wherein the cakeable water dispersant in a one piece caked condition falls to a bottom of a divergent walled canister so the water flowing through a bottom portion of the canister continues to maintain erodible contact with the dispersant as the water disperant is consumed.
Abstract:
A floating dispenser for floatingly delivering a dispersant or dispersants to a body of water with the floating dispenser floating in an upright condition when a dispersant is present in a dispenser cartridge of the floating dispenser with the dispenser self inverting 180 degrees in response to consumption of the dispersant in the dispenser cartridge to thereby provide a visual alert that one should replace the dispenser cartridge in the dispenser with a fresh dispenser cartridge.
Abstract:
A kit for increasing the capacity and versatility of an inline dispenser with the kit including a set of stackable dispenser cartridges and an extension for increasing the capacity of the system with the extensions having fasteners thereon for changing the capacity of the system without having to replace existing components of the system.
Abstract:
A dispenser system for delivering various combinations of dispersants to a body of water with the various combinations of dispersants supplied to the body of water through the interchanging of dispensing cartridges which are attachable to a main dispensing cartridge where a condition for interchanging of dispensing cartridges may be triggered by an event.
