A system and method for receiving information for voicemail. A call is received from a caller. A voicemail message from the caller is recorded. A caller identifier is received from the caller in response to recording the voicemail message. The caller identifier is associated with one or more profiles. The voicemail message is filed utilizing the associated profile in response to receiving the caller identifier.

Embodiments of the disclosed invention include a system and a method for providing a call forward indicator to enable a called party to identify a forwarded call. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving calling information for placing a telephone call. The method determines from the calling information whether the telephone call is a forwarded call. The method modifies a caller identification of a calling party associated with the telephone call to include a call forward indicator in response to determining that the telephone call is a forwarded call. The method transmits the caller identification having the call forward indicator to a forwarded communication device associated with the called party.

A telecommunications device and method for downloading content using Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) includes receiving a request for content to be downloaded using TDM. The content may be communicated in response to receiving the content request. In response to receiving a call request for use of a telephone line, a download status of the telephone line may be determined. If the download status of the telephone line is indicative of content being downloaded, the content may be suspended from being communicated to enable a call associated with the call request to be connected with the telephone line. Otherwise, if the download status of the telephone line is not indicative of content being downloaded, a call associated with the call request may be connected with the telephone line.

A system and method for providing speech transcription to a user during a telephone call may include a receiver configured to receive a telecommunications signal forming a telephone call. The telecommunications signal communicates speech data representative of words spoken by a telephone call participant. A processing unit may be in communication with the receiver and be configured to transcribe the speech data representative of words into text. A display unit may be in communication with the processing unit and be configured to display the text for a user during the telephone call.

A system and method for displaying information to a user of a telephone during a telephone call may include requesting information from a plurality of applications in response to receiving data indicative of a telecommunications device during a telephone call. The information may include information associated with a second user of the telecommunications device. The information received from the applications may be displayed for the first user to view during the telephone call.

A system and method for communication based on a condition of a user. A VoIP telephone is linked with a device for monitoring one or more health metrics of a user. The one or more health metrics of the user are received from the device. A speaker of the VoIP telephone is enabled to make a call in response to determining the one or more health metrics are not within a pre-defined rage. A receiving party is called in response to determining the one or more health metrics are not within a pre-defined range.
