    摘要: In a recording apparatus for recording on a recording medium by a plurality of recording heads, a scan unit has a carriage capable of mounting the recording heads at a predetermined interval and causes the recording heads to scan corresponding divided recording areas. A record control unit causes the recording heads to conduct a first record mode to record an area of a first recording width in a direction of scan by shared recording by the recording heads of the corresponding recording areas and a second record mode to record an area of a second recording width smaller than the recording width of the first recording width by causing at least one of the recording heads to record in the corresponding divided recording area when the corresponding divided recording areas are scanned. A distance between two recording apparatus mounted at outermost positions in the arrangement of the recording heads on the carriage is not larger than a difference between the first recording width and the second recording width.

    摘要: A recording scan is performed through a relative reciprocation of color recording heads on a recording material. The recording heads can record with higher recording density than that of input image date. A plurality of pixels (2.times.2)are formed for each pixel of input image data. A mixed color image is recorded by multiple scans of the recording heads, in such a manner that pixels thereof (2.times.2) are not subjected to superposition of ink of two colors or more during a scan of the recording heads. Thus, it is possible to prevent an occurrence of variations in mixed color, and to record a high quality color image without increasing a recording time. Further, an amount of ink of one color may be reduced when recording a second one of the scans.

    摘要: The present invention involves an ink jet recording method involving providing a movable carriage and a plurality of ink jet recording heads disposed on the carriage, each ink jet recording head having a number of ink discharge energy generating elements and a corresponding number of discharge ports for recording a recording region, and applying driving signals to at least a fraction of the ink discharge energy generating elements corresponding to a fraction of the plural number of the discharge ports. Additionally, at the start of recording the number of the recording heads which are used during recording of a particular region is increased, and then at the conclusion of recording the quantity of recording heads which are used during recording of the particular region are decreased. This particular region has a length relating to the feeding pitch of the recording medium.
