    摘要: The invention is directed to a low profile electrical connector (10) for mounting a flexible film (60) having circuitry thereon, for electrical interconnection to a planar electronic device, such as a PCB (42), upon which the connector is to be mounted. The connector comprises an elongated dielectric housing (16) defined by essentially upper and lower parallel surfaces (18,20), a central through slot (26) for extending between the upper and lower surfaces (18,20) and end portions (22,24) for receiving an electrical interface member (62), such as an elastomeric connector known as AMPLIFLEX. Further means for mounting the housing to the planar electronic device, and means along one of the surfaces (18) for receiving a spring actuator member (14), are provided. The spring actuator member (14) comprising a stamped and formed metal member channel shaped at its ends (44,46) to slidable receive the end portions (22,24) of the dielectric housing, and a mid portion (48) having an extension (56) therefrom adapted to be deflected to effect opening of the end portions (44,46). Finally, an elastomeric connector 62, comprising an elastomeric core having a flexible film wrapped thereabout, where the film includes electrical circuitry thereon, positioned within the central through slot (26) to electrically interconnect the flexible film (60) disposed within the low profile connector to the planar electronic device (42).

    摘要: An interface for connecting co-planar printed circuit ("PC") boards (10,20) using a compressible circuit (50) for bridging the PC boards (10,20), a base (80) underlying the second PC board and integrally attached thereto, and a support housing (30) which sandwiches the compressible circuit (50) against the two PC boards (10,20). The compressible circuit (50) is insertable into the underside of the support housing (30) and may be electro-optically aligned therewith. The compressible circuit (50) is then staked to the support housing (30), and the support housing is mounted on the two PC boards (10,20). In order to mount the support housing (30) on the PC boards (10,20) with the requisite precision, the support housing (30) is provided with alignment means including resilient finger (39) on the underside, and the second PC board (20) is provided with cooperating guide tabs (25).The electro-optic alignment and attachment of the compressible circuit (50) with the support housing (30) together with the precise alignment of the support housing (30)over the two PC boards (10,20) insures a precision high-density interface.

    摘要: An electrical interconnection assembly intended for interconnecting an array of conductors in a cable to conductors on a substrate is disclosed. The assembly is comprised of a spring metal member and a housing member, said spring member having means for being pivotally mounted to said housing. Said housing means has a plurality of conductor members therein, each engageable to corresponding circuitry on the substrate. Said spring member has a stamped and formed body with a first and second section joined by an intermediate bight. The first and second sections are mutually relatively deflectable about the bight to a second position. The assembly further has a locking means to retain said body in its second position in said housing. Energy is stored in the body in its second position whereby upon positioning the cable conductors between the second body section and the circuitry of the housing member and deflecting the first section to the second position and engaging said lock, the stored energy is transmitted through the second section to the conductor array to maintain a normal force electrical contact between the cable conductors and the circuitry on the substrate.
