    摘要: A driving method of a plasma display panel which has a plurality of row electrode pairs and a plurality of column electrode pairs arranged so as to intersect the row electrode pairs and form pixels at the respective intersecting sections, and which performs a display by using an address period in which a scanning pulse is applied to one of the pair of row electrodes and a pixel data pulse is applied to the column electrodes and a light-on/light-off pixel is selected in accordance with pixel data and a maintaining discharge period in which discharge maintaining pulses are alternately applied to the row electrode pair and the light-on/light-off pixel is maintained, wherein an electric potential of the column electrode is changed every pixel or every pixel group consisting of a plurality of pixels in the maintaining discharge period.

    摘要: A display panel device includes a plurality of row electrode pairs and a plurality of column electrodes. Each row electrode pair includes a first and second electrodes. Unit light emission areas are formed at intersections of the row electrode pairs and the column electrodes. Each unit light emission area includes a first discharge cell and a second discharge cell. The second discharge cell includes a light-absorbing layer and secondary electron emission material layer. When driving the display panel device, sustain discharge responsible for light emission governing the display image is induced in the first discharge cells, whereas reset discharge and address discharge accompanied by light emission not contributing to the display image is induced in the second discharge cells.

Each partition wall defines discharge cells in each line of the plasma display panel, and is formed such that a width of a portion of the transverse wall situated between the adjacent vertical walls is larger than a width of a portion of the transverse wall coupled to the vertical wall.

    摘要: A plasma display panel has a plurality of first and second sustain electrodes, a plurality of address electrodes which intersect with the sustain electrodes to form a pixel at every intersection. In the method, an address period is provided, in which data pulses are applied to the address electrodes, and scanning pulses are applied to the second sustain electrodes, thereby selecting lighted pixels and unlighted pixels. A discharge sustaining period is provided, in which discharge sustaining pulses are alternately applied to the first and second sustain electrodes so as to sustain the lighted and unlighted pixels. An offset voltage having the same polarity as the data pulse is applied to the address electrodes in the discharge sustaining period.

The row electrode includes a transparent conductive film having a body portion extending in the first direction in the proximity of the discharge gap and a projecting portion projecting in each unit luminous area from the body portion in a direction away from the discharge gap, and a metal film connected to the leading end portion of the projecting portion of the transparent conductive film and extending in the first direction.
