    摘要: Wireless video transmissions over a MAC layer employ various techniques to improve throughput which may negatively impact latency, such as Block-ACK and data aggregation. To improve latency while continuing to improve throughput, data packets are fenced according to application layer specifications and then transmitted. For video data, Block-ACK sequences and aggregation sequences are terminated at the end of video frames or video slices. For data aggregation, a physical layer data packet concludes at the end of a video frame or slice. The application layer can indicate to the MAC layer when such packet fencing is to occur. In use with 802.11n transmission a data flag may be used by the MAC layer to facilitate fencing.

According to another aspect, a first communication link over the first communication system is maintained while establishing a second communication link over the second communication system.     摘要: Low-power transmitter and/or receiver devices are provided by sacrificing time and/or frequency diversity in exchange for lower power consumption. When channel conditions indicate that time and/or frequency spreading are unnecessary for transmissions, a transmitter may enter into a power-conservation mode in which transmissions are performed using a time gating scheme or a time repetition scheme. In the time gating scheme, symbols are transmitting just once, rather than a plurality of times, but with increased transmission power. In the time repetition scheme, copies of the same symbol are transmitted a plurality of times on the same frequency on different symbol transmission periods, instead of being retransmitted on different frequencies on different symbol transmission periods. Consequently, the symbol can be generated once and stored for subsequent retransmission, thereby allowing some of the transmitter/receiver chain components can be operated at a lower duty cycle or processing speed to conserve power.

Each MPDU may be configured to reset a convolutional decoder state after each MPDU. The method may also include transmitting an MPDU aggregation header. The MPDU aggregation header may include a count of packed MPDUs, an array of offsets, an array of lengths, a frame check sequence (FCS) for the MPDU aggregation header, a group of tail bits, or a combination thereof. Further, an end of the MPDU aggregation header may be aligned to an interleaved symbol boundary.

    摘要: An exemplary method for reserving medium access in an ad hoc network comprises transmitting a reservation request by a reservation owner, the reservation request identifying a reservation allocation, a reservation target, and a reservation type. The reservation type identifies exclusive use of the reservation allocation by the reservation owner and the reservation target during a reservation period. The reservation target may employ a prioritized contention access (PCA) scheme to access the reservation allocation. Alternatively, an idle portion of the reservation allocation may be subdivided into a plurality of slots including even slots and odd slots, and the reservation owner gains access to the idle portion by starting to transmit during an even slot, while the reservation target gains access to the idle portion by starting to transmit during an odd slot. In yet another embodiment, the reservation owner transmits an outgoing clear to send (CTS) communication to the reservation target to transfer ownership of the reservation allocation to the reservation target, and receives an incoming clear to send (CTS) communication from the reservation target to regain ownership of the reservation allocation.
