Abstract: The present invention provides a method for transmitting a broadcast signal. A broadcast receiver, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a broadcast signal interface, which receives a broadcast signal comprising broadcast content, which includes one or more components, and a component element which describes the one more components; a control unit for parsing the component element and decoding the broadcast content by referencing the parsed component element, wherein the component element comprises a capability element describing capabilities of a broadcast receiver required for processing the component; and a display unit for displaying the broadcast content which has been decoded.

Abstract: A receiver that receives a broadcast signal including service data of a broadcast service and an emergency alert table including an emergency alert message, a first decoder that decodes the service data, a second decoder that decodes the emergency alert table, and a display processor that displays the broadcast service including the decoded service data and emergency alert message in the decoded emergency alert table. The display processor further displays information to notify that an additional content related to the emergency alert message is present, and the display processor further displays the additional content based on a selection of the information by a user. The broadcast signal further includes wake-up information, where a value of the wake-up information is changed from 0 to 1 based on a wake-up call, and the value of the wake-up information is changed from 1 to 2 based on a different wake-up call.

The apparatus includes a receiver to receive service guide fragments, the service guide fragments including a content fragment describing content data in broadcast services, the content fragment including a content element, the content element including an identification attribute of the content fragment, and a version attribute of the content fragment, the content fragment further including a PrivateExt element which is used for content level extensions, the PrivateExt element including a component element describing components in the content data, the component element including an audio component element, a video component element, and a closed caption component element, the audio component element describing a role of an audio component in the content data, the video component element describing a role of a video component in the content data, and the closed caption component element describing a role of a closed caption component in the content data; and a decoder to decode the service guide fragments, and a displayer to display service guide information on a screen. Further, the service guide information is represented based on timeline information, channel information for the broadcast services, and program information for the content data, and the channel information is displayed with capability information.
