摘要： The present invention provides a composition and method for augmenting soft tissue, which composition includes a continuous phase that is a solid at temperatures less than about 10° C. or greater than about 30° C. and is a fluid at temperatures between about 10° C. and about 30° C., and which contains an aqueous solvent having dissolved therein a hydrogel and a dehydrating agent, and a discontinuous phase containing a plurality of hydrophilic hydrogel particles that are swellable in the aqueous solvent, that are not biodegradable for periods of time in excess of one year, and that have a hydrated diameter of greater than about 25 microns upon hydration by physiologic fluid; wherein the final volume of the hydrophilic hydrogel particles upon hydration by physiologic fluid is substantially the same as the initial volume of the composition used to augment the soft tissue.

摘要： The present invention provides injectable, bioabsorbable microdispersions suitable for use as a soft tissue repair or augmentation material in animals comprising a fluid carrier that is a liquid polymer selected from the group consisting of liquid polymers of a plurality of at least two different first lactone repeating units and other liquid polymers; and a particulate material. Additionally, the present invention also discloses methods of using these microdispersions for tissue augmentation and repair as well as kits which include prefilled containers to facilitate the use of these materials.

摘要： The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for delivering an article formed of a shape memory alloy to a surgical implantation site. The apparatus may include a body having a passage for receiving the proximal portion of the shape memory article, the passage being shaped to substantially prevent the shape memory article from deforming in accordance with its shape memory properties when the proximal portion of the shape memory article is positioned in the passage. An exemplary involves placing the distal portions of legs of a staple in at least one passage in a constraining device that substantially constrains the legs from deforming; and placing the proximal portions of the legs of the staple in at least one passage in an apparatus that, independently of the constraining device, substantially prevents the legs from deforming.
