摘要: Apparatus for Doppler correction in a wireless communications system, including a first frequency synthesizer for generating a carrier signal oscillating at a rate responsive to a first input, a counter coupled to the first input for generating a Doppler compensation signal, the counter having a clock input, and a second frequency synthesizer coupled to the clock input for generating a clock signal oscillating at a rate responsive to a rate input. The rate input is adjusted over time according to a predetermined sequence so that the Doppler compensation signal compensates for the Doppler effect experienced by, for example, ground-to-satellite communications in a satellite communications system.

摘要: A new signal processing architecture for base stations and gateways (124, 126) used in spread spectrum communication systems (100) that simplifies data transfer, reduces required bus capacity, and does not require special synchronization of signals that are to be combined. A series of transmission modules (5081-508M) are used to transfer data to corresponding ones of a series of analog transmitters (4121-412M) used to form communication circuits for each system user. Each transmission module (5081-508M) employs a series of encoders (502MR) and modulators (504MS) to form spread communication signals, using appropriate PN spreading codes. Spread spectrum communication signals from each module (508) for each system user (D), are summed together (5101-510M) and transferred to a single analog transmitter (412) associated with that module. The signals being combined are automatically synchronized by common timing signals used for elements within each module. The number of processing elements within each module is such that at least one processing path is available for each user or user channel over which it is desired to transmit information through the connected analog transmitter (4121-412M). Data is output from the modules (5081-508M) at a greatly reduced transfer rate which can be more easily accommodated using current technology. This is very useful for satellite based communication systems, or high capacity cellular systems, and this system architecture can be accomplished cost effectively using a series of easily manufactured circuit modules.

摘要: The invention is directed to a laundry retaining device comprising a strap and a bag. The strap is suitable for retaining larger articles of clothing that have openings to pass the strap through, such as shirts and shorts. The bag, preferably a mesh bag, retains smaller articles of clothing or articles that do not have openings to pass the strap through. The device allows for the washing and drying of a set or several sets of clothes at once without having to sort and recreate each set of laundered clothes.

摘要: Apparatus for supporting a steering column of an automotive vehicle includes a mounting bracket secured to the steering column. Upper fasteners rigidly secured to vehicle support structure extend through longitudinally extending upper slots in the mounting bracket. Lower fasteners rigidly secured to the vehicle support structure extend through longitudinally extending lower slots in the mounting bracket. The connection of the fasteners in the slots of the mounting bracket releases in response to longitudinal collapse of the steering column in a frontal impact. The vehicle support structure overlies the mounting bracket to resist upward displacement of the mounting bracket when the steering column collapses. Pull loop assemblies are associated with the lower fasteners. Each pull loop assembly includes a generally U-shaped strap of flexible, bendable material having a first leg connected to one of the lower fasteners. Each strap has a second leg which is unattached. Each strap has a return bent intermediate portion extending over a fixed support frame on the mounting bracket so that when the bracket collapses with the steering column, the straps will unwind around and be pulled over the fixed support frame and thereby resist such collapse and absorb energy.

摘要: A method and system for managing telephone calls includes a personal telephone manager (PTM) (12) and uses out-of-band, wireless, two-way signaling, messaging and alerting to screen, control, route and respond to incoming telephone calls and to communicate called party text messages in auditory form to the caller. Through use of an out-of-band signaling/messaging path (16), the PTM (12) frees the called party from the need to maintain telephone network connectivity, from having to inform others of his/her current location, and from having to subscribe to and use cellular telephone service. Instead, the called party can rely on the availability of existing low bandwidth, wide area, two-way wireless data services, which make efficient and cost effective use of available radio spectrum. Two-way wireless data messaging to a portable computer (18) equipped with radio transceivers is also provided. This feature enables the system to provide a set of real-time options including: call screening by the called party based on information identifying the caller's telephone number; call redirection to a wire-line or wireless telephone number as specified by the called party; call redirection to a third party or to a voice mail system; or the return of a text message specified by the called party and delivered to the caller in an auditory form.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a mechanism for certifying the compatibility of a software product by identifying the interfaces (API or ABI) used by that product. The source code or object code of a component is analyzed by a tool that traces which interfaces and data structures of an ABI/API are being utilized. For example, an ISV or IHV may be required to run the tool on their respective components in order to have that component certified with a particular version of an operating system and submit the results to a certification service. The certification service may collect this API/ABI information into an integrated database. The certification service may then use this database to analyze the impact of changes to an operating system at the binary interface level, proactively notify vendors prior to these changes, test compatibility and emulation libraries, and certify components are compatible with an operating system without the need of significant testing.

摘要: A variable rate receiving system where a packet of variable rate data is reassembled on a traffic channel if the capacity of the traffic channel is greater than or equal to the data rate of the packet. When the rate of the packet of variable rate data exceeds the capacity of the traffic channel, the packet is received on a traffic channel and at least one overflow channel.
