    摘要: A multiple-element antenna is provided that includes a monopole portion and a dipole portion. The monopole portion has a top section, a middle section, and a bottom section. The middle section defines a recess between the top and bottom sections, and the bottom section includes a monopole feeding port configured to couple the monopole portion of the multiple-element antenna to communications circuitry in a mobile communication device. The dipole portion has at least one dipole feeding port configured to couple the dipole portion of the multiple-element antenna to communications circuitry in the mobile communications device. The dipole portion of the multiple-element antenna is positioned within the recess defined by the monopole portion of the multiple-element antenna in order to electromagnetically couple the monopole portion with the dipole portion.

    摘要: A mobile wireless communications device has a portable handheld housing. A circuit board is carried by the portable handheld housing. RF circuitry is carried by the circuit board. A diversity antenna and main antenna are carried by the portable handheld housing and coupled to the RF circuitry and operative together. The RF circuitry tunes the diversity antenna into a diversity communications frequency band to achieve a diversity mode of operation with the main antenna and tunes the diversity antenna into a non-diversity communications frequency band when cross-coupling has occurred from the diversity antenna to the main antenna when operating in the diversity communications frequency band. A switch is carried by the portable handheld housing and connected to the RF circuitry and coupled between the diversity and main antennae and disconnects the diversity antenna when operating in the non-diversity band to prevent cross-coupling from the diversity antenna to the main antenna.

A ground patch may be adjacent the front side of the dielectric substrate that is electrically connected to the ground plane and spaced apart from and at least partially overlapping the antenna.

    摘要: A low profile antenna has a meander length based on the full electrical wavelength of the signal being transmitted or received. The antenna can have either an open-loop structure or a closed-loop structure with a matching network. The low profile enables the antenna to be used in a card for a device such as a personal computer, personal digital assistant, wireless telephone and so on with minimal risk of the antenna breaking off, as compared with a prior art antenna having a higher height and thus more likelihood of being broken from its card.

The multi-frequency band antenna may include a main loop conductor having a gap therein defining first and second ends of the main loop conductor, a first branch conductor having a first end connected adjacent the first end of the main loop conductor and having a second end defining a first feed point, and a second branch conductor having a first end connected adjacent the second end of the main loop conductor and a second end defining a second feed point. A third branch conductor has a first portion within the main loop conductor, and a second portion connected to the second feed point. A tuning branch conductor may have a first end connected to the main loop conductor between the respective first ends of the first and second branches.
