The present invention involves the creation of an appropriate model and the use of that model to generate a best fit dipole represented by a vector (x, y, z). Once the best fit dipole is generated, a best fit field distribution and a field distribution of a modified dipole is created. Using a difference between the field distributions, a Singular Value Decomposition is used to compute the main axes of the confidence ellipsoids.

In a method for vapor-depositing a substrate with a layer of a needle-shaped x-ray fluorescent material containing at least one alkali metal, alkali halide phases and an alkali halide are mixed in a vapor phase and are vapor-deposited on the substrate. A luminophore plate has a substrate and an auxiliary layer lying thereabove onto which a storage luminophore layer is applied. The auxiliary layer is rastered such that nubs separated by trenches are formed. Luminophore needles of a storage luminophore are formed on the surface of said nubs by vapor deposition.

In one embodiment, the present invention includes an EEG system comprising of sensors which are utilized to gather an electromagnetic signal from a patient; a signal processing system; and a computer system. The computer system is configured to support multiple threads of execution. The computer system initiates a first thread of execution, a measurement module, where the data is filtered and in some cases averaged. Typically, the data is filtered for a particular latency period. Once the data has been filtered and averaged, the result is given to a second thread of execution, the source reconstruction module, which then proceeds to generate a source reconstruction for the trial. The measurement module then acquires and processes new electromagnetic data from a new trial while the source reconstruction is being performed on the most recent trial.

In a method and evaporation chamber for generating a continuous vapor stream containing a compound in which gallium is present in monovalent form of a vacuum coating method for vacuum coating a substrate, an evaporation substance containing gallium in bivalent or trivalent form, is arranged together with metallic gallium in the evaporation chamber, that is closed on all sides and has a vapor exit opening. The evaporation substance is evaporated, and the vapor is brought into contact with the metallic gallium, causing the bivalent or trivalent gallium to be reduced to monovalent gallium in a vapor stream which subsequently exits in the direction of the substrate via the vapor exit opening.

In an x-ray beam computed tomography apparatus having a ring anode scanned by an electron beam for producing an x-ray beam which rotates around an examination region, measurement of the intensity distribution in the electron beam is enabled at various locations of the ring anode during operation. For this purpose, the ring anode can have at a number of locations around its circumferential direction, insulated sub-anodes with an insulating interspace therebetween, to which a measuring arrangement for measuring the charge distribution, and thus the intensity distribution, in the electron beam is connected. The charge distribution is measured when the electron beam sweeps the interspace between two sub-anodes.

The invention is directed to a plain bearing part for a liquid metal lubricated plain bearing, the plain bearing part having a bearing surface that is in contact with a liquid metal during operation. This bearing surface is provided with a layer of a metal effective as diffusion barrier for the liquid metal and which is well wetted with the liquid metal. The layer is applied according to a PVD process.

An electron generating assembly for an x-ray tube has a thermionic cathode and an electrode system for accelerating electrons emitted by the thermionic cathode, and an electron multiplier disposed in the electron path. In order to achieve a given electron beam density, the electron beam current emitted by the cathode can be reduced dependent on the multiplication factor of the electron multiplier, thereby extending the service life of the overall assembly. The electron multiplier can be controllable.

According to the invention, at least one magnet element is provided for generating a guide magnetic field such that the electrons are guided at a spacing from the elongated anode. At least one kicker magnet is provided for generating a kicker magnetic field such that the electrons are steered onto the elongated anode in the region of the kicker magnetic field. The kicker magnet is implemented as a permanent magnet.
