摘要: A ferrule type, flareless fitting is provided that may optionally be pulled-up to its assembled condition by torque rather than by turns. In one embodiment, at least one fitting component includes a structure that facilitates pull-up by torque and allows the fitting to be remade. The structure may take a wide variety of different forms. Examples of fitting component structures that facilitate pull-up by torque and allow the fitting to be remade include, but are not limited to, deformable or compressible devices or structures that are configured to increase the torque required to further tighten the fitting components when the fitting is properly pulled up, resiliently deformable structures that bias a tube gripping device into engagement with a conduit when the fitting is remade to an initial pull-up position, and plastically deformable retaining structures that maintain a tube gripping device in sealing en a ement with a conduit when a fittin is disassembled.

摘要: A fitting for a tube or pipe capable of functioning a high pressures having a first fitting component adapted to receive the conduit end; a conduit gripping device such as a ferrule or ferrules and a second fitting component that can be joined to the first fitting component to cause the conduit gripping device to grip the conduit and seal when assembled. In one aspect of the invention, the first fitting component is constructed from a material that is softer than the material used to construct the second fitting component. An additional aspect of the invention include a retaining portion on the second fitting component that constrains the tube gripping device against pressure. The retaining portion can also be configured to retain the tube gripping device to the second fitting component prior to installation and in a finger-tight condition. A further aspect of the invention includes a first fitting component in which an exterior portion of the component is work hardened radially outward from the tube gripping device. The fitting may optionally be provided with a structure to effect the pull-up by torque functionality.

摘要: A fitting is provided that may optionally be pulled up to its final assembled condition by torque rather than by turns. At least one fitting component includes a structure that facilitates pull up by torque. In one embodiment, a ring is provided that may be disposed on one of the fitting components and includes an engagement surface that engages a surface on the other of the fitting components at a first axial position that corresponds to a complete pull up. The engaging surfaces increase the torque required to continue pulling up the fitting past the first axial position.

摘要: A modular fitting for conduits such as tube and pipe comprises a universal body (12) having at least two selectable configurations and at least one or more connecting parts that when joined with the body form a fitting. The body includes a drive member (24) and a conduit gripping member (28), and in an exemplary embodiment the conduit gripping member may be in the form of a conical spring (28) that grips the conduit (c) when axially compressed during pull-up. The modular design for a fitting facilitates postponement of final fitting configuration and assembly beyond the manufacturing facility to an end user or other location and time.

摘要: A fitting for a tube or pipe capable of functioning a high pressures having a first fitting component adapted to receive the conduit end; a conduit gripping device such as a ferrule or ferrules and a second fitting component that can be joined to the first fitting component to cause the conduit gripping device to grip the conduit and seal when assembled. In one aspect of the invention, the first fitting component is constructed from a material that is softer than the material used to construct the second fitting component. An additional aspect of the invention include a retaining portion on the second fitting component that constrains the tube gripping device against pressure. The retaining portion can also be configured to retain the tube gripping device to the second fitting component prior to installation and in a finger-tight condition. A further aspect of the invention includes a first fitting component in which an exterior portion of the component is work hardened radially outward from the tube gripping device. The fitting may optionally be provided with a structure to effect the pull-up by torque functionality.

摘要: A ferrule type, flareless fitting is provided that includes a first fitting component (12), a second fitting component (16), a front ferrule (20), and a rear ferrule (22). The first fitting component comprises a rear ferrule recess and a front ferrule recess. The second fitting component includes a ferrule camming surface. The front ferrule is disposed between the first fitting component and the second fitting component such that a portion of the front ferrule engages the front ferrule camming surface. The front ferrule includes a flange that extends radially outward from a portion of the front ferrule that engages the front ferrule camming surface. A difference angle is defined between the front ferrule recess and an outer surface of the flange when the fitting is in a finger tight condition. The difference angle diminishes during pull up of the fitting. A rear ferrule is disposed between the front ferrule and the first fitting component such that a rear ferrule drive surface of the rear ferrule recess engages the rear ferrule when the fitting is pulled up.
