An electronic endoscope has a video-scope having an image sensor and a video-processor. The video-scope is connected to the video-processor, to which a computer system, having a display unit and a digital recorder, is connected. The image-pixel signals corresponding to an object image, formed on the image sensor, are read from the image sensor and processed to obtain digital video signals. The digital video signals are generated in accordance with a square-pixel frequency, which is a sampling frequency for the computer system. The digital video signals are fed to the computer system to display the object image on the display unit, and/or record the object image in the digital recorder.

A communication control apparatus includes a master communication control unit for performing communication control for a plurality of slave units, and an intermediate communication control unit which performs the communication control for each slave unit instead of the master communication control unit. The intermediate communication control unit includes a memory section for holding transmission data necessary for slave unit communication processing and response data, which is a response to the transmission data, a transmission/reception section for sending the transmission data and for receiving the response data, and a communication processing control section. The communication processing control sections sends the transmission data in a predetermined order to the slave unit, which writes the response data received in a predetermined order into the memory section, and notifies the master communication control unit of the completion of the communication processing by using an interruption signal when the communication processing is completed.

An electronic endoscope in which images of an object to be viewed are picked-up in a field-sequential system by a solid-state image pickup device. The electronic endoscope includes a primary converter for converting different color image signals picked-up by the solid-state image pickup device and successively output therefrom, into digital image signals. A single memory temporarily stores the digital image signals in a point-sequential system. A secondary converter converts the digital image signals successively read from the single memory, into analog image signals. A delay delays a part or all of the analog image signals by different delay times to synchronize the color image signals.

Semiconductor devices are formed in semiconductor regions of the substrate which are surrounded by the region for forming the dicing line. The semiconductor regions are provided on a side of the first surface. A portion of the substrate is removed from a side of the second surface until the thickness is reduced to a predetermined value. The substrate is divided into chips along a dicing line from at least the one hollow portion as a starting point.
