    摘要: A snubbing unit, used to raise or lower a collar-connected series of tubing joints through a riser spool communicating with a well bore, is provided with an electromagnetic sensing system operative to detect and indicate the entry into, position within and travel direction within a sensing spool between the upper and lower blowout preventers of each tubing collar. The sensing system includes upper and lower electromagnetic coils coaxially circumscribing the sensing spool, and a frequency generator for energizing the coils. First and second phase comparators are used to detect current phase alterations in the coils, caused by variations in the vertical proximity between each collar and the coils, and responsively transmit output signals indicative of such phase alterations. The output signals are sent to a position sensing circuit which utilizes them to illuminate collar position and travel direction lights on an operator control panel.

    摘要: In a tubing conveyed perforating gun assembly having shaped charges to perforate a well, an improved pressure sequence shaped charge detonator is included. The preferred form of device is appended to the bottom of the assembly to function as a backup detonator. First and second piston and cylinder assemblies in an elongate body provide pressure initiated arming and subsequent pressure initiated firing pin movement to achieve primer cord detonation for perforation of the well. The pressure sequence is controllable, selectively to a specified pressure to arm and thereafter to fire.

    摘要: A method for monitoring a patient's organ includes: inputting an electrical signal into the organ; receiving the electrical signal from the organ; and comparing the received electrical signal to a reference electrical signal to determine whether the patient's organ is functioning properly. The electrical signals may be representative of flow characteristics. In one aspect, a system for monitoring a patient's organ includes a sensor sock having a flexible body adapted to at least partially surround an organ, the sock carrying a plurality of spaced-apart electrodes. In another aspect, the system includes at least one flow transducer adapted to be attached to a blood vessel connected to the organ. A sensor unit is adapted to be implanted into the patient's body and to transmit and receive electrical signals from the electrodes or transducers. A computer may be programmed to compare the received electrical signal to the reference electrical signal.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for pulling or inserting jointed pipe sections (18) having upset ends (20) within a well utilizing a coiled tubing injector (26). The coiled tubing injector (26) has a pair of opposed endless chains (50, 52) including gripper blocks (58) for gripping the pipe sections (18). An axial gap (G) is provided in chains (50, 52) between adjacent gripper blocks (58) to receive the upset ends (20). To align accurately upset ends (20) with gap (G), a sensing mechanism (100, FIGS. 11 and 12) is provided to sense the location of upset end (20) and a sensing mechanism (110, 112, FIGS. 13 and 14) is provided to sense the location of gap (G). An operator in response to signals from the sensors accurately aligns upset ends (20) with gap (G).
