The mechanism comprises a first controller entity for executing a first selection routine for considering at least one first policy on communication via the communication system, and a second controller entity for executing a second selection routine for considering at least one second policy on communication via the communication system. The at least one second policy is related to a different aspect of communication than the at least one first policy. The data processing mechanism is configured to select the communication interface based on outputs of the first selection routine and the second selection routine.

    摘要: A mobile station executed method, wherein upon changing from a current cell to a new cell in a wireless packet data network the mobile station enters the new cell; generates a cell change packet data unit (PDU) message for informing the network of the location of the mobile station in the new cell; buffers the cell change PDU message into a PDU transmit queue before any buffered PDUs that were present before the mobile station entered the new cell; and transmits the buffered cell change PDU before any of the buffered PDUs that were present before the mobile station entered the new cell. In accordance with another method for informing the wireless network of the MS cell change, the following steps are executed: (i) in response to the MS making access in a new cell, sending a Channel Request that indicates a Cell Update operation; (ii) establishing an uplink (UL) Temporary Block Flow (TBF) for transferring Logical Link Control (LLC) Packet Data Units (PDUs) from the MS to the network; (iii) in response to the network receiving an unknown Temporary Logical Link Identifier (TLLI) from the MS, sending a message to a Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) and (iv) based on the message, determining with the SGSN the new cell location of the MS.

    摘要: The disclosed embodiments relate to a method for arranging the transfer of packets between a wireless data transfer device (MS) and a mobile communication network (NW). For transferring packets between the wireless data transfer device (MS) and the mobile communication network (NW), temporary block flows (UL TBF, DL TBF) are formed, and information is transferred in these block flows in one or more packet data traffic channels (PDTCH) either in the first direction from the mobile communication network (NW) to the wireless data transfer device (MS) or in the second direction from the wireless data transfer device (MS) to the mobile communication network. In the method, information about the end of the block flow is set in a packet to be transmitted in a block flow when data transfer has stopped. When the transfer of packets in said first direction has stopped, at least one enquiry message is also sent from the mobile communication network (NW) to the wireless data transfer device (MS). If there are packets to be sent to the mobile communication network (NW) in the wireless data transfer device (MS), a reply message to the enquiry message is sent from the wireless data transfer device (MS), which also sets information about the need to send packets in the reply message.

    摘要: A method and system for restoring a subscriber context in a network element of a mobile communication network is described, wherein a new subscriber context which has been updated after the latest restart is indicated by transmitting a corresponding restart information to the network element. Based on the restart information the network element continues the use of new subscriber contexts updated after the latest restart and inactivates old subscriber contexts updated before the latest restart. Thereby, the amount of unnecessary subscriber context re-activations and the corresponding downtime of the service is reduced. Moreover, the amount of signaling required after the restart is reduced, since a smaller number of subscriber contexts have to be re-established.
