摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for monitoring a location using vision-based technologies and to automatically trigger the activation of a child safety feature or an alarm when a child is detected. One or more image capture devices are focused on a given location. The captured images are processed to identify the presence of a child and to initiate an appropriate response, such as sending assistance, activating a child safety feature or triggering an alarm. A number of rules can be utilized to define various child safety events. Each rule contains one or more conditions that must be satisfied in order for the rule to be triggered, and, optionally, a corresponding action-item that should be performed when the rule is satisfied, such as sending assistance, activating a child safety feature or triggering an alarm.

摘要: Cameras and image processing techniques are applied to the control of HVAC systems. Occupancy is detected using head-counting or motion detection. Activities are recognized in images and image sequences by machine-recognition techniques. The nature of activities, the intensity of activities, the number of occupants and their activities, etc. are all inferred from images and image sequences and used to predict current loads and/or required control signals for regulating an HVAC system.

摘要: A system for monitoring a driver's attention to driving a vehicle includes a camera having a field of view wherein a driver's face is positioned in the field of view of the camera. The system also includes a gaze and facial pose determiner coupled to the camera which receives signals corresponding to images of the driver's face for analysis. The gaze and facial pose determiner determines whether the gaze and facial pose of the driver are oriented in a forward direction of travel of the vehicle. The system also includes an alarm responsive to the gaze and facial pose determiner for advising the driver that his gaze and facial pose are not oriented in the forward direction of travel of the vehicle.

摘要: An acoustic based pointing device and a system and method for using the pointing device to move a cursor on a display screen of a display device. The pointing device comprises an acoustic source that generates and propagates an acoustic signal that is detected by four microphones M1, M2, M3, and M4 and is then converted into corresponding periodic electrical signals S1, S2, S3, and S4. The position vector P0 of the acoustic source is calculated by solving triangulation equations that depend on phase-shift time delays between S1 and Sj for j=1, 2, and 3. A position vector PC is calculated from P0 using a scale vector that relates a change in position of the cursor to a change in position of the acoustic source. Then the cursor is moved to a position PC associated with the position vector PC.

摘要: An authenticating card 10 for use in a transaction includes a memory 15 and a processor 20. Biometric data of an authorized user of the card 10 are stored in the memory 15 when the card is used for the first time. The processor 20 receives acquired biometric information 25 of the user and allows the transaction when there is a match between the acquired biometric information 25 and the stored biometric data. The biometric information 25 of the user desiring to perform the transaction may be acquired by an input device or reader 30, such as a scanner, recorder or a digital tablet. The biometric information 25 and data may be the user's signature, voice print, palm print, finger print, length of finger(s), or eye scan.

摘要: Objects are classified using a normalized cross correlation (NCC) measure to compare two images acquired under non-uniform illumination conditions. An input pattern is classified to assign a tentative classification label and value. The input pattern is assigned to an output node in the radial basis function network having the largest classification value. If the input pattern and an image associated with the node, referred to as a node image, both have uniform illumination, then the node image is accepted and the probability is set above a user specified threshold. If the test image or the node image are not uniform, then the node image is not accepted and the classification value is kept as the value assigned by the classifier. If both the test image and the node image are not uniform, then an NCC measure is used and the classification value is set as the NCC value.
