摘要: An ultrasonic touch sensor includes a touch structure configured to receive a touch; a transmitter arrangement configured to transmit one or more ultrasonic transmit waves toward the touch structure; a receiver arrangement configured to receive ultrasonic reflected waves produced by reflections of the one or more ultrasonic transmit waves and generate a plurality of measurement signals representative of the ultrasonic reflected waves; and a measurement circuit configured to measure a degree of variation of a plurality of measurement signals, compare the degree of variation with a detection threshold, and determine whether a no-touch event or a touch event has occurred at the touch structure based on whether the degree of variation satisfies the detection threshold.

摘要: A portable information handling system commands a stylus to vibrate to aid in location of the stylus. The stylus vibrates at a frequency selected from a range of plural frequencies based upon a distance between the portable information handling system and stylus so that an audible noise is generated by the stylus with sufficient sound to be heard by a user of the portable information handling system while minimizing stylus power consumption. In one embodiment, a haptic film at the stylus exterior surface and/or a speaker of information handling system generates an ultrasonic sound detectable by a microphone of the information handling system and/or the stylus for determining a distance between the information handling system and the stylus.

One or more detected propagating signals that have been disturbed by the touch input are analyzed to identify the touch input on an external surface of the device sidewall.

摘要: Acoustic touch detection (touch sensing) system architectures and methods can be used to detect an object touching a surface. Position of an object touching a surface can be determined using time-of-flight (TOF) bounding box techniques, or acoustic image reconstruction techniques, for example. Acoustic touch sensing can utilize transducers, such as piezoelectric transducers, to transmit ultrasonic waves along a surface and/or through the thickness of an electronic device. Location of the object can be determined, for example, based on the amount of time elapsing between the transmission of the wave and the detection of the reflected wave. An object in contact with the surface can interact with the transmitted wave causing attenuation, redirection and/or reflection of at least a portion of the transmitted wave. Portions of the transmitted wave energy after interaction with the object can be measured to determine the touch location of the object on the surface of the device.

摘要: An apparatus classifies touch events. The apparatus includes a touch sensitive surface configured to generate a touch event when an object touches the touch sensitive surface. The touch event entails a mechanical vibration upon contact with the surface. The apparatus includes a touch event detector configured to detect the onset of a touch, and a touch event classifier configured to classify the touch event to identify the object used for the touch event. The mechanical vibration is created via any one of finger parts including a tip, a pad, a fingernail, and a knuckle, each of which has a unique feature different from each other.
