Abstract:
A coated article includes a low-emissivity (low-E) coating supported by a substrate (e.g., glass substrate) for use in a window, where the low-E coating is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in order to improve the coating's and thus the coated article's electrical, optical and/or thermal blocking properties. Exposing the low-E coating to UV radiation, e.g., emitted from a UV lamp(s) and/or UV laser(s), allows for selective heating of a contact/seed layer which transfers energy to the adjacent IR reflecting layer.
Abstract:
Certain examples relate to improved methods for making patterned substantially transparent contact films, and contact films made by such methods. In certain cases, the contact films may be patterned and substantially planar. Thus, the contact films may be patterned without intentionally removing any material from the layers and/or film, such as may be required by photolithography. In certain example embodiments, an oxygen exchanging system comprising at least two layers may be deposited on a substrate, and the layers may be selectively exposed to heat and/or energy to facilitate the transfer of oxygen ions or atoms from the layer with a higher enthalpy of formation to a layer with a lower enthalpy of formation. In certain cases, the oxygen transfer may permit the conductivity of selective portions of the film to be changed. This advantageously may result in a planar contact film that is patterned with respect to conductivity and/or resistivity.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus is configured to monitor for a notification of MCCH information change associated with an MBSFN area without having previously performed an MCCH information acquisition procedure to acquire MCCH information in the MBSFN area. Furthermore, the apparatus is configured to acquire the MCCH information while monitoring for the notification of the MCCH information change that indicates a change of MCCH information.
Abstract:
Certain example embodiments relate to a coated article including at least one infrared (IR) reflecting layer in a low-E coating. In certain examples, at least one layer of the coating is of or includes zirconium oxide (e.g., ZrO2) doped with gadolinium and/or gadolinium oxide (e.g., Gd2O3 or other suitable stoichiometry). Providing a layer including Gd-doped zirconium oxide as the uppermost or overcoat layer of the coated article (e.g., over a silicon nitride based layer) advantageously results in improved durability, and chemical and heat stability in certain example embodiments. Coated articles herein may be used in the context of insulating glass (IG) window units, vehicle windows, or in other suitable applications such as monolithic window applications, laminated windows, and/or the like.

Abstract:
A coated article is provided so as to include a solar control coating having an infrared (IR) reflecting layer and a breaker layer, one or both of which may be of or include a material such as NiCr, NiCrNx, NbCr, NbCrNx, NbZr, NbZrNx, Nb and/or NbNx. Each of the IR reflecting layer and the breaker layer is sandwiched between at least a pair of dielectric layers of a material such as silicon nitride or the like. In certain example embodiments of this invention, the IR reflecting layer is substantially thicker than the breaker layer. Such coated articles may be used in the context of windows such as monolithic or IG windows, and may optionally be heat treated (e.g., thermally tempered) in certain instances and may be substantially thermally stable.
Abstract:
A coated article is provided so as to include a low-E (low emissivity) coating having an infrared (IR) reflecting layer sandwiched between at least a pair of dielectric layers. The IR reflecting layer may be of or include a material such as silver (Ag), and is provided between a pair of contact layers. The low-E coating includes an overcoat having a substantially metallic layer (e.g., NbZr or Zr) which has been found to improve the durability of the coating without significantly sacrificing desired optical characteristics. Such coated articles may be used in the context of windows.
