Abstract: Various example embodiments relate to devices, methods, apparatuses and computer readable mediums for cell discontinuous transmission or reception. A terminal device may receive a cell configuration for discontinuous transmission or reception from a network device. The configuration may define a discontinuous transmission or reception pattern including an active period and a non-active period, a first periodicity for transmission or reception during the active period, and a second periodicity for transmission or reception during the non-active period. When the discontinuous transmission or reception is activated, the terminal device may perform reception or transmission of a signal or channel in the first periodicity during the active period, and perform reception or transmission of the signal or channel in the second periodicity during the non-active period.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, methods, apparatuses and computer readable storage media of CG resource handling for SDT. The method comprises receiving, from a second device, information indicative of availability of one or more candidate beams for a subsequent transmission after an initial transmission of a small data transmission procedure; and determining, based on the information, a set of target resources the subsequent transmission. With the solution of the present disclosure, the network may not need to monitor all the beams configured to the UE after the successful reception of the initial CG-SDT transmission, which may simplify the implements of the network and therefore improve the system performance. Meanwhile, the resources configured for multiple beams, which has been released or suspended by a UE, can be used for other UEs to increase resource efficiency given that likely the initial serving beam may remain the strongest throughout the entire SDT procedure.

Abstract: Various example embodiments relate to devices, methods, apparatuses and computer readable media for alignment between user equipment and network. An example terminal device may be configured to receive, from a network device serving the terminal device, a configuration for discontinuous transmission defining an active period and a non-active period of a cell associated with the network device; receive, from the network device, a first indication indicating that the configuration for the discontinuous transmission is activated; provide a first start offset and a secondary start offset, wherein the first start offset shall be used when the discontinuous transmission is deactivated and the secondary start offset shall be used for the activated configuration for the discontinuous transmission; and select the first start offset or the secondary start offset for connected discontinuous reception of the terminal device during the activated discontinuous transmission of the cell.

Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to grant skipping for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure. A first device determines whether data is available for transmission on a grant, the grant being allocated for a SDT procedure established between the first device and a second device. In accordance with a determination that the data is unavailable, the first device determines whether the transmission on the grant is to be skipped. In accordance with a determination that the transmission on the grant is not to be skipped, the first device performs the transmission on the grant to the second device, the transmission conveying a predetermined type of information without conveying the data. Through this solution, the SDT procedure between the devices can be maintained as long as possible, to allow the first device to transmit subsequent data to or receive subsequent data from the second device without initiating a new SDT procedure.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to random access in a communication system. A first device determines whether a contention-free random access resource is allocated from a second device for a first random access type. In accordance with a determination that the contention-free random access resource is allocated, the first device compares a target transport block size corresponding to the contention-free random access resource with a first transport block size configured for a first group of preambles available for the first random access type, and performs random access to the second device based on a result of the comparison.

Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to apparatus, method and computer readable storage media of scheduling request management. The method includes in accordance with a determination that data on a logical channel is available for transmission, determining, at an apparatus, whether there is pending data available for transmission on one or more further logical channels; and in accordance with a determination that there is pending data available for transmission, determining a set of target scheduling request, SR, configurations available for a SR procedure from a plurality of candidate SR configurations associated with the logical channel and the one or more further logical channels; and performing the SR procedure based on the target SR configuration. In this way, the waste of the SR configurations can be avoided and the SR may be transmitted using the fastest SR opportunity.
