Abstract:
A data stream is transmitted from a transmitting device to a receiving device via a communication network. Data of the data stream is transmitted to the receiving device by using a transport protocol without data acknowledgement. In a transmission method, parity-encoding parameters for parity encoding a data set of the data stream is determined via the transmitting device. The transmitting device also generates parity data from the data set by using the determined parity-encoding parameters. The transmitting device further transmits the generated parity data to the receiving device via the communication network by using a transport protocol with data acknowledgement.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a central server stations controlling access to a collection of digital data created by a client station. The server station receives, from the client station, a request to validate a collection of digital data, where the request contains the collection which has a collection identifier and for each data item belonging to the collection, a data identifier designating said data item, and at least one representation of said data item, the representation being chosen depending on said data item and on the collection identifier. For each data identifier received, a representation of the data item is locally obtained depending on the data item and on the collection identifier of the received collection associated with the collection. A comparison is made between the received representation and the obtained local representation and, in a case where the comparison results in a match, the digital data item to be shared is validated.
Abstract:
The access method comprises the following steps: i) receiving a notification indicating the presence of at least one digital document available on the network, said notification comprising at least one executable command adapted to detect whether the recipient client device comprises a local application capable of processing the digital document, ii) executing the command or commands in order to detect the local application, and iii) in case of positive detection, accessing the digital document from a local server whereas in case of negative detection, accessing the document from the address of a remote server.
Abstract:
A method is proposed for the management of mechanisms to enhance data stream transmission on a tunnel supported by a main communications network, the transmission of each stream being done according to a frame transport protocol with acknowledgment, the tunnel being implemented between first and second tunnel end-points connected respectively to first and second sub-networks, each stream being transmitted from a sender device to a receiver device through the tunnel, one of the devices which are the sender device and the receiver device being connected to the first sub-network and the other being connected to the second sub-network. The method comprises the following steps performed by the tunnel end-point for a given stream: first partial determining of a nature and a location of a problem of transmission for the given stream enabling first pieces of information to be obtained on a problem by analysis of the given stream; receiving second pieces of problem information coming from the second tunnel end-point and resulting from a second partial determining of the transmission problem performed by the second tunnel end-point; final determining of the nature and location of the transmission problem by combination of the first and second pieces of problem information; managing the transmission enhancement mechanisms as a function of the result of the final determining.
Abstract:
The method of controlling access to a collection of digital data created by a client station, said method being implemented on a central server station in a communication network of the hybrid station-to-station type, comprises the steps of: receiving, from the client station, a request to validate a collection designated by a collection identifier and comprising, for each data item belonging to the collection, a data identifier designating said data item and at least one chosen representation of said data item; for each data identifier thus received, locally obtaining a representation of the data item associated with the said collection; and comparing the representation thus received with the local representation and, in the case of positive comparison, validating said digital data item to be shared.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to the optimization of an access to a medium in wireless networks which can be accessed by a plurality of nodes, each node of the plurality of nodes using a medium access mechanism of the Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance type based on a computation of a backoff value. A specific value is associated with each node of a set of nodes of the plurality of nodes, the specific value of a node being known by the other nodes of the set of nodes. According to the invention, a backoff value is determined for each node of the set of nodes, in each node of the set of nodes, the backoff value associated with a node being determined as a function of the specific value associated with that node.
Abstract:
In a method of controlling a document sharing support apparatus, there is received information representing the fact that a first computer is storing at least a low-resolution version of a document, and the low-resolution version of the document is acquired and stored. There is received a request for obtaining the document from a second computer, and the low-resolution version of the document in memory is made available to the second computer.
Abstract:
The method of asynchronous delivery of digital data according to the invention is implemented in at least one server system and at least one client system connected via a network. According to the method, at the time of a request for data coming from a client system, an item of context information (CINF) representing a first state of the client system on sending out the request is associated with the latter. On delivering to the client system a response, the response incorporates the context information (CINF). The client system is adapted to put itself in a second state analogous to the first state mentioned above, in accordance with the context information (CINF, CUID). The method according to the invention provides context management enabling the user to associate the responses received with requests sometimes made well beforehand.
