Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a plurality of master information blocks (MIBs) on a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH). The UE may determine an NPBCH signal power based at least in part on the plurality of MIBs. The UE may estimate a narrowband reference signal received power (NRSRP) parameter based at least in part on the NPBCH signal power. In some aspects, a base station may determine whether to enable or disable NPBCH-based estimates of an NRSRP parameter for a UE. The base station may transmit, to the UE, an indication of whether NPBCH-based estimates of the NRSRP parameter are enabled or disabled for the UE based at least in part on the determination. Numerous other aspects are provided.

In some aspects, the device may select a setting for at least some if not each of a set of parameters associated with or defining a device profile of the device based on an application of the device. The device may perform a mapping procedure to map the settings for the parameters associated with the device profile to one or more baseband configurations or baseband handles and the device may customize the baseband of the device using the one or more baseband configurations. As such, the device may operate or communicate using the baseband that is customized based on the device profile and application of the device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is to scan one or more frequency bands during a cell acquisition procedure. The UE may receive one or more over-the-air signals, each of the one or more over-the-air signals having a respective bandwidth that includes a corresponding plurality of channels from a frequency band of the one or more frequency bands. The UE may process individual ones of the one or more over-the-air signals. The UE may evaluate, in corresponding batches for each of the individual ones of the one or more over-the-air signals, each of the corresponding pluralities of channels for cell acquisition. The UE may acquire a cell via batch-wise evaluation of the corresponding pluralities of channels.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Aspects of the present disclosure describe a quick scanning method to reject global synchronization channel numbers (GSCNs) that do not include a synchronization signal block (SSB). The quick scanning method utilizes down-sampling techniques to reduce complexity associated with scanning many GSCNs for an SSB. For example, a user equipment (UE) may down-sample a signal to obtain a coarse signal subset (e.g., by using coarse bin sizes, sampling a portion of symbols). The UE may perform a fast Fourier Transform, along with one or more data processing techniques, to obtain a spectrogram corresponding to the signal. While the spectrogram may represent the signal in the frequency domain with reduced resolution, and may include energy information corresponding to different frequencies. The UE may utilize the spectrogram to examine frequencies corresponding to GSCNs to detect if an SSB is present.

Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap for a scheduled communication involving multiple, different TBs. For example, some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap between two or more PDSCHs that are scheduled by a same DCI based at least in part on a UE capability, such as a processing time or a processing mode. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap between a last PDSCH and a next PDCCH based at least in part on the UE capability. The gap(s) may permit the UE to successfully receive and/or decode multiple PDSCHs and/or PDCCHs in view of the limitations imposed by the UE's processing time or processing mode. In this way, efficiency of PDSCH/PDCCH resource utilization may be improved, the likelihood of a failed PDCCH transmission is reduced, and network efficiency is improved.

Abstract: In some aspects, a method for a user equipment (UE) is provided. In some examples, the UE determines a signal quality for communicating with a node. The UE determines a coverage level based on the signal quality, wherein the coverage level indicates resources to be used for communicating with the node. The UE determines a maximum repetition level and a repetition value, based on the coverage level, for communicating with the node. The UE generates a multibit repetition range identifier that indicates the repetition value based on the maximum repetition level. The UE transmits the multibit repetition range identifier.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for measurements for narrow-band (NB) Internet of Things (IoT) devices. A user equipment (UE) may receive a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) during a paging occasion and via a non-anchor carrier. The UE may process the CRS by determining and/or making quality measurements of the paging carrier. The quality measurements may be used to determine whether a paging occasion should be terminated early to conserve UE power and to prevent an extended “on” duration during the discontinuous receive cycle of the UE. In some examples, the UE may combine statistics and/or measurements based on processing of both the CRS and a narrow-band reference signal (NRS).

Abstract: Various embodiments for calibrating receive chains on a mobile communication device may include identifying a calibrated receive chain and an un-calibrated receive chain of the mobile communication device and obtaining a first series of gain measurements for the calibrated receive chain and a second series of gain measurements for the un-calibrated receive chain. The mobile communication device may determine a path gain difference between the calibrated receive chain and the un-calibrated receive chain based on the first series of gain measurements and the second series of gain measurements, and compensate a gain of the un-calibrated receive chain using the path gain difference.
