    Abstract: Aspects relate to group-based reference signal broadcast in a wireless communication network. A first wireless communication device may transmit a first group formation broadcast message associated with a first positioning group comprising a first plurality of wireless communication devices including the first wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device may receive a second group formation broadcast message associated with a second positioning group comprising a second plurality of wireless communication devices including a second wireless communication device. The second positioning group may be associated with a channel occupancy time (CoT) in a sidelink channel. The CoT may comprise transmission opportunities configured to be used by the second plurality of wireless communication devices for communicating reference signals. The first wireless communication device may initiate transmission of reference signals by the first plurality of wireless communication devices using additional transmission opportunities within the CoT associated with the second positioning group.

    Abstract: Disclosed are some examples of techniques for positioning of a user equipment (UE) using positioning reference signal (PRS). One or more units of messages may be communicated between an initiator UE and a responder UE. A unit of message may include a pre-PRS message, a PRS message and a post-PRS message. The pre-PRS message and the post-PRS message may be sent or received using a license spectrum. The PRS message may be sent or received using an unlicensed spectrum. The communication between the initiator UE and the responder UE may be initiated by the initiator UE identifying the responder UE from a plurality of UEs based on positioning properties of the responder UE. The positioning properties of the responder UE may include one or more of a direction, a velocity, a location confidence and a location of the responder UE.

    Abstract: Independent ranging sessions that are initiated by multiple initiating user equipments (UEs) are detected and combined into a single combined ranging session to reduce overhead. The independent ranging sessions may be determined to be nearby and concurrent when a UE detects a number of ranging cycles within a predetermined time. The UE may send messages to each initiator UE indicating that the ranging sessions should be combined and the initiator UEs will terminated initiating any further ranging sessions. Combined ranging session may be initiated by the UE and may include all of the participating UEs from the independent ranging sessions. The combined ranging session continues until it is determined that one or more UEs in the combined ranging session are not receiving ranging signals from other UEs.

    Abstract: Multiple user equipments (UEs) may initiate independent ranging sessions at nearly the same time and location and which may interfere with each other. A UE that receives multiple initial messages for ranging determines if there is temporal separation between the ranging sessions. The UE may further determine if there is geographic separation between the ranging sessions, e.g., the initiating UEs are separated. If separation is lacking, the UE separates available ranging signal properties, such as frequency bandwidth, timing instances, and identifiers, and communicates different sets of ranging signal properties to each initiating UE. The multiple ranging sessions may be performed using the different sets of ranging signal properties with less risk of interference.

    Abstract: Techniques described herein provide for the efficient usage of an RF channel for PRS transmissions by performing LBT sensing for a group of one or more vehicles (e.g., V2X vehicles) in a predetermined area by using an RSU. The RSU can determine a sequence in which an order for each vehicle in the group to transmit a respective PRS is defined, and provide the sequence to the group. The RSU may further perform the LBT functionality by listening to availability on the RF channel and, when the channel becomes available, the RSU can initiate this sequence by sending an initial PRS. This LBT sensing for a group can provide far more efficient usage of the RF channel than if LBT functionality were performed by each divisional vehicle.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a network node may receive a first set of ranging measurements based at least in part on a first one or more positioning reference signals communicated over a sidelink between a pedestrian user equipment (P-UE) and a vehicle UE (V-UE). The network node may receive a second set of ranging measurements based at least in part on a second one or more positioning reference signals communicated over an access link between the P-UE and one or more base stations. The network node may transmit, to the P-UE, an estimated position of the P-UE. For example, in some aspects, the estimated position of the P-UE may be based at least in part on the first set of ranging measurements and the second set of ranging measurements.
