Abstract:
An anodic sacrificial seal element is installed at vulnerable regions of a blowout preventer. A zinc cylinder, for example, is included at the well-bore pressure side of a bonnet which seals around a rod as it extends through a bonnet which joins an actuator to the body of the BOP. Similarly, a zinc O-ring may be used in a seal groove provided between the bonnet and the body of the BOP. In this way, the high electropotential of the material from which the additional seal element is made is oxidized first, before any attack on the BOP material, thereby increasing the time period between maintenance events on the BOP.
Abstract:
An improved network architecture employs a super authority having an identity catalog to direct login authentication tasks to appropriate authorities. Authentication tasks may be performed by authorities across namespace boundaries if so directed by the super authority, such that a principal account may be moved without alteration of the account ID. In an embodiment of the invention, the identity catalog comprises a listing associating account IDs with appropriate authenticating authorities.
Abstract:
A security device for clothing wherein a strong flexible cable is fastened at one end to a lock, carried on a hanger, or to a bar on a clothing stand, which cable passes through part of a garment such as a sleeve and the other end of the cable is detachably secured in the lock to releasably secure the garment.
Abstract:
A valve assembly is provided for use in controlling a plurality of fluid operated functions. The assembly comprises a plurality of valve members 14, each movable independently to carry out a fluid flow control function for example, a function of a hydraulic mine roof support. There are means 39 for supplying hydraulic fluid to all the valve members 14 thus tending to move all the valve members, but there is also an interposer device 18 positionable in the path of at least one of the valve members to prevent the said one of the valve members from carrying out its fluid control function, thus enabling the valve members to be selectively operable.
Abstract:
Shown is an apparatus and method of use where microwaves transmitted through volatiles include water vapor driven from an adequate polymer sample by heating in a closed test cell. A pump moves a predried gas and those volatiles at pressure and flow rate to a microwave transducer including a pair of antennae horns aimed at one another, one with a microwave transmitter oscillator and the other with a receiver detector. The volatiles are brought transversely across the open end of the oscillator antenna horn by a conduit. The particular orientation of the conduit is important to the accuracy of the measurement. A moisture absorbent material inserted axially into the conduit restrains the flow of volatiles changing same to liquid form. Loss of microwave energy due to the water vapors in the volatiles is measured at the output of the detector. Microwave energy absorbent material surrounds the transducer.
Abstract:
A receiver equalizer with a first equalizer unit having a basic equalizer stage and a negative impedance cell connected to the basic equalizer stage. Preferably the negative impedance cell has a pair of back to back transistors, and connected thereto a parallel resistor capacitor RC network. The basic equalizer stage has a pair of current sources; a pair of transistors arranged as a differential pair, each transistor connected to a different one of the current sources; and a degeneration impedance connected in between the two current sources, and the transistors, wherein the negative impedance cell is connected across the outputs of the pair of transistors.
Abstract:
A self-attaching nut having a central pilot projecting from an end face of the body portion, an annular groove surrounding the pilot and an annular panel support face surrounding the groove, wherein the outer side wall includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced notches, each having an outer wall which extends from the bottom wall of the annular groove to the panel support face and the bottom wall of the groove includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced radial ribs integral with either the outer or inner side walls of the annular groove having a radial end spaced from the opposed side wall and a top face inclined toward the bottom wall of the annular groove providing improved torque resistance and push-off strength. Alternating circumferentially overlapping radial ribs integral with the pilot and the outer groove wall and ribs which extend below the bottom wall of the groove are also disclosed.

Abstract:
In an integrated circuit receiving multiple serial data streams in parallel, a local clock is generated from each data stream and is synchronized with the data stream. Sometimes a data stream may have no transitions making it difficult to keep the clock synchronized with its data. A clock channel is provided, which always has edges. A circuit is provided for each data stream which measures the time elapsed since the data stream had an edge. After a certain period, the phase of the local clock is nudged towards that of the clock channel. Thereafter, the longer there are no edges on the data stream the more frequently nudges towards the phase of the clock channel are made.
