Abstract:
The present invention provides personal care formulations containing silane functionalized polyolefins and having improved sensory feel, as well as being non-tacky and easily spreadable on skin. The present invention also provides a method for treating the body by applying the aforesaid personal care formulations externally to the body. The present invention also provides a method for improving the sensory feel of personal care formulations by including silane functionalized polyolefins in the formulations.
Abstract:
The present invention provides personal care formulations containing silicone modified polyolefins and having improved sensory feel, as well as being non-tacky and easily spreadable. The present invention also provides a method for treating body surfaces such as skin, hair, nails, etc., by applying the aforesaid personal care formulations externally to such a surface. The present invention also provides a method for improving the sensory feel of personal care formulations by including one or more silicone modified polyolefins in the formulations.
Abstract:
A method for lightening skin tone is provided, comprising topically administering a personal care composition comprising: (A) voided latex particles comprising (i) a core polymer comprising (a) 20 to 60 weight % of monoethylenically unsaturated monomers containing a carboxylic acid group, and (b) 40 to 80 weight % of non-ionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers; and (ii) a shell polymer comprising (a) 55 to 85 weight % of non-ionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and (b) 15 to 45 weight % of polyethylenically unsaturated monomers; (B) 0.1 to 10 weight % of pigment grade inorganic metal oxide particles having a particle size of 250 nm to 1,000 nm; (C) a dermatologically acceptable carrier; and (D) an emollient, wherein the voided latex particles are present in at 0.5 to 10 weight %, based on weight of the composition, contain a void and have a particle size of 400 nm to 1500 nm.

Abstract:
Described are personal care compositions comprising a polyacrylate oil gel, comprising: (a) at least one cosmetically acceptable hydrophobic ester oil, and (b) one or more polymers comprising: (i) a first polymerized unit, comprising: (1) 75% to 35% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more (meth)acrylate monomers selected from at least one of C1-C4 (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic acid, styrene, or substituted styrene, and (2) 25% to 65% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more hydrophobic monomers, including hydrophobically substituted (meth)acrylate monomers, with alkyl chain length from C6 to C22 and, (ii) a second polymerized unit, comprising: (1) 10-99% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more monomers which has a Tg of more than 80° C. after polymer formation, (2) 1-10% of one or more (meth)acrylate monomers containing acid functional group, and (iii) optionally, a crosslinker.
Abstract:
Provided are compositions that are useful as oil-free emollients in personal care formulations. The emollients are oil-soluble polyalkylene glycols, wherein the polyalkylene glycol comprises units derived from propylene oxide and units derived from butylene oxide, and in certain embodiments are compounds of Formula I: RO-(PO)n-(BO)m-H (I) wherein PO is propyleneoxy, BO is butyleneoxy, R is a linear or branched C8-C20 alkyl, n has an average value of from 5 to 20, and m has an average value of from 4 to 16.
